Dwight Gooden Lamented By His Nephew.

No surprise, Folks, but former pitching great Dwight Gooden is in legal trouble again and this time, his nephew, Yankee outfielder Gary Sheffield is lamenting him. I hate the Yankees but I do respect Sheffield.

TAMPA, Fla. - <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = AT /><AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>Former baseball star Dwight Gooden allegedly fled police after being stopped for drunken driving - and his nephew, New York Yankees outfielder Gary Sheffield, says there is nothing his family can do to help anymore.
<AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>"I've done pretty much everything you could possibly do," Sheffield said Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. "It just comes to a point where you have to let him go through what he's got to go through. Sometimes, it is God's plan for us to back off and let him do it, because the family has tried everything."

<AT:CLASS></AT:CLASS>Gooden, who has a history of drug abuse, left the scene of a traffic stop early Monday after refusing to get out of his 2004 BMW to take a field sobriety test, police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said Tuesday.

Gooden is the reason that Sheffield is with the Yankees. Oh and I love the Yankees and hate the stinkin Red Sox. :whistle:

Do your homework, Gordy, Steinbrenner WANTED Sheffield and made the deal happen himself. He had a choice of either him or Vladmir Guerrero, whom much of the team wanted but George got his way.

George was going to sign either Guerrero or Sheffield, some of the brass really wanted Guerrero but Gooden was the one who sold the boss on Sheffield.

I’m not kidding my Urologist was in the middle of a procedure telling me about being a Sox fan and asked who I liked. My oldest friend has been a Sox fan since 1975, he is a sports editor for the Newark Star Ledger.
