I am going to cut and paste a post that was on a list I belong to. Supposed to be non political, a gardening/country living list. Someone had shared that stupid post about boycotting all gas on a certain day. I heard on the Glenn Beck Show a better solution, try to buy from stations that don't buy middle eastern oil, becasue the latter often funnel money to terrorists. (This info available with a google search). Anyway here is the comment, mind you she is a friend though not a close one, and she is my kid's mentor for her show lamb.)

HER POST
"My point is that there are *no* good choices when it comes to oil any more. It's so balled up with politics and multi-national corporations that filling your tank 'hurts' no matter which station you patronize. That's why I'm just amazed that our federal government, with its vast resources, continues to neglect opportunities to drive alternative energy solutions forward. It'll be private business innovating there, and it will take so much longer than it would have if our federal government had made it a priority, a la the Manhattan Project. Instead, Bush and his lackeys in Congress chose to line the pockets of the multi-nationals (ExxonMobil's 2nd Q *profits* this year: over 7 BILLION), while continuing to run up the largest spending deficits in history. Bush, instead of opening the strategic reserves to give us a little bit of price relief (as Clinton did twice during his eight years) continues to BUY oil to add to the reserve! (adding more demand to an already tight supply) So... I get mad as heck every time I spend 70+ bucks to fill my tank with diesel. Because I'm paying for it now, and I'm going to be paying for it again when this economy comes crashing down around us."

How do I counter these statements with FACT????

WOW, PH!

I'm not as "up" on this issue as I should be, so I'm not going to offer any pearls, but instead pray that others more knowledgeable see this thread and post some helpful info.

My take is that 1) I don't want ANY more government involvement with ANY thing at this point -- they just seem to mess things up even further, 2) IF we were able to take advantage of what we KNOW we DO have located here in the states (oil lines in Alaska, offshore drilling, etc.), we wouldn't have a problem -- that's thanks to the envirowackos who won't let us get to our OWN oil, and 3) I certainly don't want President Bush responding in any WAY like a dem pres did -- most especially one who was "otherwise" preoccupied in the Oval Office when making decisions.

Praying for you PH!
Blessings,
Hms

Cut and paste this. I DO research this matter.

There are some good choices we could make regarding oil. We could start by tapping domestic reserves. Libs complain about drilling in the Arctic. Just starting to do it will force foreign competitors to bring down the price but that's only a beginning.
Drilling can be done cleanly and responsibly but Tree Huggers will never see that. I work with a man who once spent time on oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. It was because of tree huggers that they are shut down. These envirowackos, with the help of Bill Clinton, created more laws to make domestic drilling more expensive. Basically, they wanted drip pans underneath EVERY platform. That's no small task nor is it cheap. Whatever sludge on the platform is scraped up and processed, never making it to the water yet that's not good enough. Rather than spend the money for these new regs or fight them in court, they told the government, "Fine! Buy it elsewhere!," closed their operations and went home. It was Clinton and his rules that have placed us at the mercy of foreign oil. My co-worker saw this happen and wouldn't lie about it. He also left the industry because of it.

It's not the fault of the President, either. Look at the stockmarket for your answers. Investors drive the price up or down based on current events and what may happen. If there is sabotage to a pipeline in Iraq, they drive the price up. If there is a spill by a foreign tanker, they drive the price up.
Also, they do the same on what might happen. A hurricane might hit the Gulf Coast and close down a refinery. There might be an accident as our refineries are old and at capacity. None of it has happened yet but it might. Investors are a skittish lot, indeed.

Speaking of refineries. We haven't built one in 30 years. What we do have sufficed the demand of 30 years ago but not now. But, because of envirowackos, we haven't built another one. We have more drivers and more cars on the road nowadays. So long as that is the case and we don't meet demand, it will get more exensive.

I would say to those who oppose, rather than whine about the problem. Rather than being a part of the problem, try being a part of the solution.

Patriot Heart this was my reply to the group where the original post came from... I doubt many will get it but.

Also I am new here....Patriot Heart sent me the link. I did not know there was a conservative anything any more.... I won't post much but this topic makes my blood boil.
I know I am talking to the wind......

I realize that so many do not understand the oil reserve program and how Clinton put our nation at risk with his smoke and mirror drawing down of the oil reserve which meant NOT replacing but just shifting the drawn down amounts around from storage facility to facility. Then it was replaced after Clinton left office.

The plan to reduce and eliminate America's ability to replace and process our fuel needs started in the 70's when the embargo fizzled. To truly make America dependent on the goals of other nations we had to be unable to produce, process and unwilling to conserve fuel or use alternate energy which requires investment, lifestyle adjustments and maintenance. Fuel in tanks is a small part of our energy needs.
Unlike America our enemies will go for the long term solution to their plans and it has taken 30 plus years to reduce America to being unable to supply her needs in fuel, food and so on.

If you go back into the UN Records you will find that in the 90's was the final blow sending our drilling and processing abilities overseas often at US tax payers expenses with the profits going into Lincoln Bedroom visitor's coffers be it Nations or individuals and many US politicians follow the money and associates and relatives.
Wealth also from the retirees had to be stripped from the economy which was done quiet easily with the Global Crossings, Enron and many others starting with the Tech Boom and Bust. Day traders were a God send to those working the markets. It covered a multitude of fraud and costs many day trader's families their homes since the idiots did not understand the massive accounting mess required for each trade and related tax problems. Monies were flowing from one Nation's Market to US Market and back to create the boom and no one cared until the bust. Then the blame game began and those so guilty are untouchable. All the laws and government controls are worthless if the government is the problem to start with......

Government is huge and like a black hole sucking up everything in it's path which to survive and grow has joined forces with INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS being governments or industry making the black hole larger and more powerful. Our food source is controlled by International Industries suing the average farmer for farming....patents on animals and reproduction..... get a clue as to what "government" means today. We gave them the power and they took it an ran....all the time holding on to our wallets.

It is quite easy to follow the China money to Gov. Walters and Clinton in the Governor's Mansions and then on to the White house. Think we are electing our representatives....follow the money. Then one must trace the Russian, Middle East, India, Mexico, etc. monies.

I gave up my security lic., banking lic., insurance lics. and sold out and got out of the financial world.

China most likely owns most of the mortgages on this group and there is no way to know which ones it holds. Read your mortgage and see if there is a call at any time clause.
I doubt with few exceptions the mortgages held have ever been read and understood instead of just signing on the dotted line because the government is suppose to keep it all legal and safe. What is in the mortgage is left up to the government to protect us from .....I don't think so. Anyone been following Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. or the refi boom that has not only inflated housing prices but inflated what we all get charged for taxes..... Why would the government want to reduce their income by protecting people who want cash to fuel the economy and don't even bother to read the contract or protect themselves.
If you are worried about fuel costs, you had better brace yourself since the economic steps to raise and lower the supply and costs to control the American Political Arena was put in place to mature at this time.
It is no accident it is happening in 2005 before mid-term elections.

Party lines are not the focus but putting individuals regardless of party in place that will promote one world government. We had all better study how to survive in third world conditions because when the middle class is eliminated there will be the elite and the poor with nothing in the middle. That is what is called equality in the new world order. Listening to older German relatives the middle class in Germany became the guards and enforcers. All children were taught only enough to make them loyal servants of the state losing any loyalty to family, faith or morals not approved by the state.

It is not the place in my opinion for the government to come up with alternative energy but to get out of the way. Private business research and development is so hampered and regulated plus Clinton gave the world access to our patents so why bother for it just to be stolen. The government could protect our innovations instead of causing us to again import from other countries alternate energy. Remember Gov. Walters crippled our oil and gas producers while working with China's State Owned Sun Energy which is the alternate energy supplier....it also has several other names but most are hidden with American's thinking they are dealing with US based companies..... If the government get into producing alternate energy then TAX PAYERS will fund it, for every dollar collected maybe 10 cents will make it to be wasted on research which will not require any accountability. Look at what is wasted already.

Let the government solve it thinking is what got us in this mess...we went from local community rule to county rule to state rule to federal rule and now global rulers are at the door. Does anyone really think anyone cares if the energy crisis is solved at your house? It is a weapon and the technology is already in place to go off the grid. Our grandparents did it with Jacob Wind Turbines but they require maintenance and an investment and reduced use of electricity we can't seem to come to grips with mentally. There was fuel shortage during war times and people survived but they also planted gardens and knew how to butcher and most had some contact with a local farmer if they were in the city.
To make alternative energy work then one's home had better be paid for since insurance costs will skyrocket if allowed at all. The desire for free energy is not real. It takes investment of at least time and materials if built diy or more investment to buy ready made energy sources and then it must be maintained which few are willing to do. That hampers research and development. Then add law suits and the legalities involved in liability if an idiot gets hold of the product and so on...... Strip down the complex into simple....if people want alternative energy it is already out there just not in instant no care no cost form.

Propane will make an engine last almost forever but few people would use the energy in that form for local driving except farmers when it was so cheap so it fell by the wayside. We have always used propane and diesel and guess what we were the minority for the past 34 years. Anyone checked natural gas prices lately....they are out of sight at 9.84 this morning....winter is coming.

Follow the monies....PETA, Environmental groups, Humane Society, Green Peace, Government Actual spending, Foreign Spending and control, UN, etc. etc. and you start to get the picture.

The weapon used on us is not just oil, gas, but food, finances. Every time you give a check to a Target or Wal Mart etc. they are looking directly into your account and selling your info. on purchases and ability to pay. They know how many checks you wrote today, if you have the funds and your history. FDIC is a joke at best. Think your 401 K is safe....think again.... Think Bush or anyone can solve the problems...think again.

The government is not the answer, we are.

The demand for oil by the Chinese is causing the prices to rise. I understand that the oil companies can't keep up with the demand.

Your friend is regurgitating leftist political propaganda that doesn't make any sense. She may not realize that she's misinformed. There's no need to put political spin on this. It's purely supply vs. demand.

The demand for oil by the Chinese is causing the prices to rise. I understand that the oil companies can't keep up with the demand.

For the first time in the history of the world, every major economy in the world is booming. That has put an unprecedented demand on the world's oil supply. In addition the costs of steel, plastics, aluminum, and all consruction materials have gone up dramatically. This will eventually have the effect of slowing all growth to a near standstill as costs outgrow returns.

Additionally, we have not built a refinery in over 25 years. Since gas cannot be safely imported, we are limited to the current production capacities of our refineries. All of them are running at full capacity. All of the crude in the world will not allow us to process oil into gasoline one day sooner. Without additional refineries, we are limited to a lifestyle that was dictated to us 25 years ago, before SUV's, before the population growth, and before modern methods of processing crude in a more environmentally safe manner.

The answer is to develop a real, comprehensive energy policy. We need to plan for the future, not just from election year to election year.

You might want to let them know that Bush released oil from the reserves last year during Hurricane Ivan, and most likely wil after Katrina is gone.

Not that they're stupid or anything, but just ignorant.
