The American Civil Liberties Union on Saturday began training observers in El Paso to watch Minutemen as they patrol for undocumented immigrants trying to sneak into the country.
The ACLU will deploy volunteers in clearly marked shirts to ensure that civil and human rights are not violated. Organizers for Minutemen in Texas and New Mexico have said they will begin patrols in October.
"When you go and you actually talk to them, you'll see that the underlying reason they're here is not because of immigration or drugs, but because this country is changing," said Claudia Guevara, a coordinator from Los Angeles for ACLU's Legal Observer program.
Officials of border watch operations disagree and say Minutemen are making a political statement without breaking laws.

What is to prevent those clowns from giving their identifying shirts to the illegals?

This country is changing because illegals are overrunning it. I say we form a group to watch the ACLU watchpuppies.

Hey ACLU, what about my rights? All these illegals coming here and living off of my dollar, getting free healthcare that I pay dearly for, getting a free mortgage that I have been denied due to a credit problem and the courts forbidding local law enforcment to prosecute since the Feds won't do their job.
It's bad enough they're here but many of them rape and murder and then you have the nerve to cry "civil rights" when they are charged.
ACLU, :finger:
For one:
"The American Civil Liberties Union on Saturday began training observers in El Paso to watch Minutemen as they patrol for undocumented immigrants trying to sneak into the country."
They are going to watch them? Is the ACLU paying people to watch people? The watchers have no real duties exept to watch and report. Oh what a fine noble duty. Report what those pro-American anti-illegals are doing to an anti-American group. Highly respectable..
"The ACLU will deploy volunteers in clearly marked shirts to ensure that civil and human rights are not violated."
They are going to ensure this by wearing matching tshirts?? Oh the horror.
"When you go and you actually talk to them, you'll see that the underlying reason they're here is not because of immigration or drugs, but because this country is changing," said Claudia Guevara, a coordinator from Los Angeles for ACLU's Legal Observer program."
I don't care what the reason for their mission is. Their mission and its underlying reason are illegal. Therefore, negating their reason! Illegals are criminals. We have enough criminals here as it is.
So some stupid antiAmerican group is "watching" a group which is the only group protecting America from illegals (who are criminals, hence the name "illegals"). Oh, goodie. I wanna join THAT effed up mission:blah:

The ACLU is focused on one central goal... Bringing about the downfall of the United States...
How can the Minutemen violate anyone's civil rights if they dont come in contact with them? The management of the Minutemen stress to their rank and file that they are NOT to directly contact any illegal aliens... They are only to report to the Border Patrol any groups of aliens they observe crossing the boarder... They are instructed to not even offer food or water to them...
The Minutemen are organized and managed by some very smart conservative lawyers and they are playing this game strictly by the book from a legal standpoint... That is what has frustrated the Marxists thoughout this entire situation... They cant find any cracks in the Minutemen to exploit...
By announcing their new intentions to the media, the ACLU can use the only weapon in their arsenal - Enuendo... By starting this "watchdog" group they are implying that there are violations occurring without any real evidence...
But in this media world, enuendo and implications are all that is needed to convict someone in the public eye... The ACLU knows this and that is their point of attack...

So what exactly are these "minutemen" doing? Is that it? Are they just reporting suspected illegals crossing the border to the border patrol? If that is it, I seriously don't see a problem with it, unless of course they call in so many false alarms so as to be an abuse of the system.
I also see nothing wrong with what the ACLU is doing. They are just having people observe the people observing the illegals? Just to complicate things further, maybe I'll organize a tourist attraction where you get to observe the people observing the people observing the illegals

What makes you assume that any false alarms are being reported at all?... The rank and file of the Border Patrol have had nothing but praise for the efforts and additional help that the Minutemen have provided them...
One wonders who is pouring poison in your ear...
You should read their website before you leap to such unfounded accusations...

last the time the aclu sent observers, the observers were high on pot the entire time and were staggring around or just sitting and smiling. Unfortunately the aclu watcher wouldn't or couldn't watch where they were going and set off the sensors driving the border patrol crazy.

The Border Patrol should have arrested them and deported them to Mexico... ;)

Why bother? They would just be amongst the thousands who walk across the border too.

I sure hope all those "coyotes" that have been known to hurt people that get in their way when they are sneaking illeagals across the border dont accidently stumble across a bunch of these idiots. The ACLU idiots of course, since I suspect the Minute Men would make short work of the coyotes.

The ACLU is nothing but a commie front organization. Here is an artilce from World Net Daily. Alan Sears worked for Ronnie, so I believe he knows what he is talking about.

One of the great myths of the 20th – and now 21st – century is the belief that the American Civil Liberties Union was an organization that had a noble beginning, but somehow strayed off course.
That myth is untrue. The ACLU set a course to destroy America – her freedom and her values – right from the start.
From its very beginning, the ACLU had strong socialist and communist ties. As early as 1931, the U.S. Congress was alarmed by the ACLU's devotion to communism. A report by the Special House Committee to Investigate Communist Activities stated
The American Civil Liberties Union is closely affiliated with the communist movement in the United States, and fully 90 percent of its efforts are on behalf of communists who have come into conflict with the law. It claims to stand for free speech, free press and free assembly, but it is quite apparent that the main function of the ACLU is an attempt to protect the communists.
