I had a work party last night. Thank goodness it didn't rain! We were on my back deck drinking and generally having a good time. I made Carolina Pulled Pork sandwiches with Cole slaw. The recipe can be found right here in the Bush Country Bar and Grill forum search under pulled pork. Also present at my party was the Green Fairy (Absinthe) a guy got bottles from Poland when he went this summer. For you who don't know about Absinthe it's Liquor made from Worm Wood that was popular back in the early 1900's and has since been outlawed here in the states. Van Gosh reportedly cut his ear off from drinking this. Or so the legend goes. Nobody removed any body parts last night at my party so I think it was a successful party........Also we had plastic silverware and those knives won't cut through anything.

MORE hurricanes. Last year we suffered from 3 of the 4. In 1999 I was in Jacksonville when Floyd threatened -- my Father passed away the Friday before this storm passed closely by (September 10th). One particularly nasty hail storm about 1985. 8 inches of hail piled up on the ground.

4) When I lived in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which was during the winter of 1986-87. I was passing someone who was going 30 or less. At the time I thought the speed limit was 40 but it was only 30. While passing my speed peaked at over 40.
5) Down Jersey, by Cornelius Weygandt. Yes it was good. (non-fiction)
6) Yes, before I was old enough for Kindergarten.
7) N/A. I don't think our area specializes in any food, although there are outdoor barbecue stands around the countryside.
8) Outrageously big! It was a sandwich I had at the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan when I was in high school. It was so thick that I could not possibly squeeze it enough to be able to bite it, no matter how hard I tried.
But for a just plain outrageous sandwich, that would be my brother's peanut butter and mayonaise sandwiches he used to eat when we were teenagers. Gross!

When I was at the University of Houston, the Catholic Newman Center attempted to break a record of longest fish sandwich. I don't know if it made it into the book, but part of the sandwich made it into my tummy.

Yep - Houston Oilers. I have absolutely no recollection who won or who they played.

I was in Galveston during Hurricane Carla. I was in Houston when the eye of Hurricane Alicia passed over, and rode through Hurricane Claudette in Victoria. Carla was a category 4, the others were a 1. I guess Carla wins, although I have no recollection of it whatsoever.

Well I have an answer to question #1 now, now that I've thought about it for a while. Gillian Anderson would be one, but there are many, maybe dozens. I was nearly drooling when I saw her on the Ellen Degeneres show last year. She had let her hair grow long and dyed it blonde, if I remember correctly. She was so hot!
Some from the past: Farrah Faucett, Catherine Bach, Loni Anderson, Marki Post etc.
And I had the wrong answer to question #4. A few years ago I got a ticket for "driving on a closed road".
It was maybe 5 am, just a few minutes drive from my work. There was a police car blocking my side of the road, with the policeman hanging out, just sitting there in his driver's seat, with another officer standing there talking to him. They paid no attention to me. He had no lights on and didn't flag me down or anything. There were also no cones or barricades up. I waited a couple minutes and a couple cars came from the opposite direction. Then a minute or two later another one went by. I waited another minute or so and went on, slowly and carefully. Several hundred yards down the road I was flagged down by an officer on foot who wrote me a ticket, giving me an attitude, asking why I "blew past that police car back there". I went to court to fight the ticket and was sent in to see the prosecutor, who ignored what I had to say, and said, in so many words, just get out of here and pay your ticket. It was $122 including court costs.

Melz and I were in the same storm. The blizzard of 77/78 was nasty. I was hitchhicking from Canton college in NY back to Syracuse and got stranded on Rt 81 north of Watertown. I was walking in a total white out when a Snowplow came up behind me and Rescued me. I ended up being dropped in Watertown with little money and no place to go
for three days. It sucked. I ended finding a snow shovel and making enough money to get a room the last night.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
