I'm sorry y'all, you will just have to forgive me, and indulge me this moment of joy. I just got a fantastic call (8:45am, 8/31/05) from my son!
As most of you know, li'l Bubba started his dual enrollment classes at our local community college last Wednesday. He is in a technical program (Applied Welding Technologies). Anyway, he has been very fearful, which is understandable since he has never been in a "school" setting before. Okay, so at the beginning of the first class last week he was given a synopsis for the program which listed each unit he would have to go through on the way to his certification. Each unit is given an "average" hours measurement -- in other words, how many hours are allowed for that unit before testing. Li'l Bubba began studying for the first certification immediately, which allows 18 hours. Now there's a hitch too -- the text he is studying from CANNOT be removed from the classroom, so he can't bring it home and study it (and it was the one I've been trying to get used that runs $250!).
Well, MONDAY (after only two 4-hr block study classes) he decided to go for the test! He was 1 of 3 (out of 16) who took it. So now fast forward to today's call . . . HE PASSED!! In fact, he was the ONLY one who passed!!!
I am on CLOUD 9!! I know, I know, it's only the first test, and he has a long way to go, but I'm sorry, forgive me, I'm a Mommy . . . I'm so happy right now I could just burst!
And to that TEACHER who said my son would NEVER read or master an education,
