Hey, guys. I'm developing an online card-based strategy game set one hundred fifty years from now. Anyone interested in giving me feedback / ideas for the politics of the game world? I have three political parties vying for influence over a megalithic city hovering ten miles up in the atmosphere.
Here is the write up so far:
LITHICAN POLITICAL PARTIES

Anarchist Party_____________________________________________ ___<O:p</O:p
This is the most extreme party in Lithica. Its politicians are radicals who seek the complete restructuring of Lithican society. Anarchists are Ultra-Individualistic in philosophy. They view MegaCorporations as evil forces that have enslaved the last vestiges of civilized society. Anarchists also view MegaCorps as anathema to the existence and importance of the “individual.” <O:p
Anarchists tout the importance of the individual over the importance of the society. The Traditionalist Party has long held that the Anarchist message has led to the corruption and destabilization of society over the past fifty years. This is a claim the Anarchist Party has ironically and successfully denied.
<O:p</O:pTraditionalist Party members decry the Anarchist Party’s position, arguing that civilization cannot function justly if an individual’s rights supersede his obligation to serve responsibly as a productive member of Lithican society. The Anarchist view point counters this by blaming societal injustice on the savage capitalism that holds every citizen of Lithican society a virtual slave to consumerism.<O:p</O:p
As a result, the lower class and the disaffected are actively recruited by Anarchists, who promote hedonism and the supposed sacrosanct right of all “to passively rebel against megacorp domination by any means.” Even bored and cynical members of upper class, such as celebrity Sleeks and the younger generation of Dynasts, have acted as spokespersons for the mainstreamed fronts for the Anarchist Party. <O:p</O:p
Anarchist party leaders publicly embrace and espouse their ultra-individualistic themes because they want to destroy the MegaCorporations and their control over Lithican society. Anarchists view Traditionalists as the puppets of the powerful MegaCorps; and so, employ subversion to destroy their opposing party’s image and candidates.<O:p</O:p
More moderate members of the Anarchist Party sometimes voice concern over their leadership’s apparent zeal for reform, because their leaders are not also engaging in a comparable level of dialogue on exactly how the transition from capitalism to egalitarianism would occur. They also wonder what type of government will take the place of the current government, so that the promised utopian society can transpire. These moderate voices are all but discredited and drowned out by the extremist members (the Blue Spectrum, who constitute the majority of the radical leadership), who dismiss such calls for moderation and articulation as premature and traitorous, “given the long fight ahead.” <O:p</O:p
Anarchists tell their misguided adherents that they work toward the betterment of Lithican society, and that they believe that by working as one, a “utopian” society can be established where all are equal. However, high ranking Anarchist leaders are ideologues who secretly work toward the forcible replacement of the current governing council. They seek to replace the council with a fascist form of government that would be centered around their outspoken and charismatic leader, Olin Rees. <O:p</O:p
Over the past decades, Olin Rees has formed a loose confederation of alliances with other fringe and extremist groups, including: Purists, Geeks, and a variety of Bent organizations. He even has convinced the more radicalized members of the Revisionist Party to ally themselves with his cause from time to time. Rees orchestrates demonstrations and protests during civil events and after disasters in order to shape public opinion and to spread misinformation. He uses his allies to obfuscate his efforts from those who would hinder his long term plans.<O:p</O:p
Revisionist Party_____________________________________________ __<O:p</O:p
Revisionist Party members are comprised of “progressive” social elitists and intellectuals who disdain the current dominance of the Traditionalist Party. While they enjoy a life relative ease as a result of their positions in the City Council Administration, and in the Information Reclamation and Dissemination industries, and as well as in the Media, Culture, and Socialization industries, Revisionists feel as great sense of self-loathing and guilt.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Since the majority of mankind had either perished or been thrown into a state of chaos during the “End of Days Wars,” Revisionist feel it is incumbent upon the citizens of Lithica to reach out to their surviving brothers and sisters in order to raise them from their disarray and misery. <O:p</O:p
Revisionist elites believe Lithicans are undeserving of its status as the last remaining civilized bastion for They posit that Lithica is no better than any other society on Earth, and so, should adopt a communal approach to living. In their zeal for espousing cultural equivalence, Revisionists continually denigrate the city’s past by pointing out how inequitable society is. They want the city to open itself up to Earther refugees, despite the fact that such an influx of people would cause Lithica to be unsustainable. Regardless, Revisionists view themselves as more enlightened than their brethren, and so, believe their magnanimous policies will raise Mankind from his miserable state, and cause him to further “evolve.” <O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
The Revisionists’ perennial disdain for the Charter of Lithica and its principles has instilled in Lithicans a sense of confusion over their long-held pride for their city, and the societal guilt they feel for surviving and thriving after the “End of Days Wars” period.<O:p</O:p
This societal guilt has resulted in a dramatic increase in psychosis; manifesting itself in criminal behavior, an entitlement mentality, and in an anti-establishment sentiment that has motivated individuals of all segments of the culture to vehemently question and deride the City Council leadership. <O:p</O:p
The Revisionist Party has become ineffectual in the past decade, primarily because its leaders have been so eager to counter and defeat every political policy promoted by the Traditionalist Party, that now the Revisionists are viewed as out of touch with the values of the majority of their own constituents. <O:p</O:p
Consequently, more and more disenfranchised Revisionist adherents are shifting over to membership in the other two parties. Previously, the Robotika membership (blue collar workers) formed the core constituency base for the Revisionist Party. Now, however, discontent between Robotika unions has resulted in a rancorous division between the different Workers’ Federations. So, now that the once diehard Robotika constituency has fragmented, the Revisionists are scrambling to formulate a new strategy for their party’s reconstitution. <O:p</O:p
Traditionalist Party_____________________________________________<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
The current party in power is the Traditionalist Party. Its members have worked for one hundred years to regain the majority of seats in the City Council. Of the fifty seats, thirty-two now are held by Traditionalists.<O:p</O:p
Traditionalists are inherently pro-MegaCorp in philosophy. This is, in no small part, due to the fact that most Traditionalist Party members are beholden to their political contributors. Most of these contributors are powerful megacorp CEOs. Others are moneyed patriarchs from the Dynast families who come from Old Earth money. <O:p</O:p
Despite the increasing disparity between rich and poor in Lithica, Traditionalists believe that the system of capitalism utilized in Lithica serves the society well. Therefore, Traditionalists are loath to pass policy that regulates the MegaCorps. Doing so, they argue, would negatively impact the economic engine that powers Lithica’s continued prosperity. <O:p</O:p
Traditionalists fear the city’s tenuous balance of order would shatter, and would result in riots and revolt by the growing throngs of lower class citizens. <O:p</O:p
Since the ratification and adoption of the Charter of Lithica, Traditionalists have worked tirelessly to defend it from amendment by the Revisionist Party. Traditionalists are strict adherents of the bylaws of the Charter of Lithica. They are proud of the document, and loyal to its principles. <O:p</O:p
Secretly, Dynast patriarchies are funding the campaigns and incumbencies of the most fervent members of the Traditionalist Party. This part of the party is known as, the Red Spectrum. Both groups’ goals are unified in one regard: the perpetuation of the Charter as it has always been, and the reestablishment of civilization to the peoples of Earth. Of course, it is their plan that the Red Spectrum and its funding Dynast families serve as its rulers. <O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
Unbeknownst to the majority of the Traditionalist Party, a cabal of the most powerful MegaCorp CEOS is manipulating the Red Spectrum in an effort to maintain their own preeminence in society. Though some of the more moderate members of the party have become aware of this conspiracy, they are powerless to prove it. <O:p</O:p
Therefore, Traditionalist Moderates are calling for a party wide convention, ostensibly to define the party’s platform and to plan out long term goals. It is the hope of the Moderates that somehow they can quietly acquire enough loyal members from the overall party to confront and contain this evil element.
