Assembly OKs driver's licenses for illegal immigrants

SACRAMENTO - The California state Assembly late Wednesday night again narrowly approved a bill to allow illegal immigrants to get state driver's licenses.

The bill, SB 60, which was approved by a vote of 42-34, would establish a class of driver's licenses marked by a different color and design. They would permit driving but would not be accepted by federal law enforcement as identification for airline travel or other purposes.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger repealed a similar law in 2003 and vetoed another version last year, saying it didn't include adequate security provisions. State Sen. Gilbert Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, however, said this time he hopes the governor will support the measure because the licenses would look different than those issued for U.S. citizens -- and they would comply with new federal security guidelines approved by Congress.

That is my thought!! As soon as a criminal walks in a government place of business, they can and should be arrested! How is this not happening? If I owned a shoe-shine business and found out the person was an illegal, they would be hauled off as I could call the police to arrest them and do so.

This "illegals" business is certainly not ALL the President's fault. Anyone can have them sent back, seriously. Just call the cops because something illegal is happening. How is this country embracing them???

A license is a license, I don't care if it's red, pink, blue or whatever. I suppose they will be exempt from the requirement to carry auto insurance?

My understanding is that Arnold is going to veto this bill. Also the last time I checked a license was a privilege not a right, they act as if they have a right to a DL. It just boggles my mind in the way these groups think that people that are here illegally have some type of right to things within the US that some Americans themselves cant even receive. I am such a strong proponent against the illegals that come to this country. I have been called a bigot and a racist because I support what the MMP and other groups are doing to wake up our American brethren of what is going on and how those like the ACLU are reducing our rights and liberties and giving right to those that aren’t even legally in this country. Intl law doesn’t even recognize their right to be in this country.

What kills me the most is that these groups claim that the MMP and other groups are all racist and don’t have a right do what they are doing, they have every right under the 1<SUP>st</SUP> and 2<SUP>nd</SUP> amendment that protects AMERICAN Citizens in doing what they are doing. Though those radical groups that breach down with the US and the re-claiming of the SW of the US isn’t labeled terrorist but our own president brands these brave American vigilantes? I just don’t understand why and if the illegal population is more important to the president than his people some times.<O:p</O:p
