View Full Version : How Did You Find FC?

In another thread recently someone special (not saying any names Homesygirl) shared how she found the FC board. That got me to wondering how everyone else found it. Let me be first.
I was a moderator on the Allied Conservatives board a few years back, (actually it is starting to become quite a few years back), when the board went belly up one of the other Mods suggested I try this board. Of course that Mod Was the ever cuddley Doc Doom. So if you cant stand my posts or my sense of humor blame Doc.:hahaha:
So How did Yall find FC?

I was googling for forum to promote my own. But, once I found ya'll, I got hooked and my own forum got killed. I'm about to terminate it.

Lemme see. How did I find FC? Ummmmm.... When Townhall.com went belly up a few of us decided to start our own so that the members of Townhall board could stay in touch. AtomicLibSmasher and myself started on Ezboard and then he told me about UBB and getting our own website. To make a long story short he and I didn't see eye to eye on the management and we split the sheets so to speak. We finally ended up friends and he now has Conservababes with TheKellyCrew and I wish them all the best.

I was an original on AOL From the Right and Warlady Central, WAYYYY back in the day. One day I did a search for 'Warlady' and lo and behold found this place. And the rest is history.

:moo: In February 2000, right after I first went online, I used the AOHell search page to look for politically conservative websites. It took me to Town Hall, & I joined their forum. Town Hall eventually deep-6ed their BB, because of too many liberal disruptors (most notably Nuckie), & Warlady started FC. For reasons I won't go into, I didn't jump on the FC bandwagon immediately, although I registered just one week after she moved from EZBoard to InfoPop®. I, too, was a moderator at Allied Conservatives (then called United Conservatives), as well as Crack's Joint. I left UC, after I was told I couldn't post smilies linked to other websites. It was then that I realized that UC was no longer fun, & forsook them to come here. After the Warchic tapped me to be a moderator, I spent less time at Crack's Joint, & a lot more time here.
:moo: I also recall seeing Warlady at the AOL® chatroom, "Hillary for Senate", back in 2000.

The Chatroom "Warlady Central" was a ton of fun wasn't it? I haven't been back there in years. I'm totally devoted to FC now. All I want is for everyone to have a fun place to express their opinions. I recall Moo that you were a difficult convert. You didn't want to get involved in my problems with UC. That guy was a total dictator. Anyway, what was your screen name back then? Wasn't it Longhorn?

I recall Moo that you were a difficult convert.
:smirky: No, not really, but I was unable to join y'all right away, for a couple of reasons, neither of which I'd want to state in an open forum.
:moo: Suffice to say, that it had nothing to do with you.

I got tired of talking to brain-dead liberals around where I live, and no-one else who I could really converse with... so I googled for a 'conservative forum' for a while, and then I liked the looks of this one, so I joined.

Well I don't know what got me started, but one day several months ago I started looking for politically conservative, patriotic, and 9/11 related websites, and found FC. (I found a ton of sites and put them in a special folder in my favorites called "America".
I have one Christian co-worker who has a computer, but barely uses it outside of work and doesn't know much about websites, but he and I can talk about Conservative stuff. But I'm glad I found this place. Now I can be among a lot of Conservatives! It's great.
When I first found FC I joined right away but never received the confirmation emails I needed to actually be able to post messages here. I eventually gave up. But then about a month ago, or so, I tried again, and with a little extra effort emailing people (Warlady I think) I got in.

A couple of years ago, Rink found me, hog tied me and dragged me here. While she was doing that, I was being lectured. Even my screaming (not at being tied up:smirky: but at being lectured!) Anyway..
She kept telling me stuff like, "Its your duty to be there! It's your job to fight Liberals and all there ism's."
Little did she know, all she had to do was invite me in and none of it would have been necessary. (Although being tied up is rather exciting!)

Yes, those were the days. This is nice too, plus AOL got old after a while.
Even though I'm not in total lock-step agreement with everyone here, it's nice to read all the views. And places like this (and blogs) are replacing regular news sites for me personally, I don't even watch cable news anymore.

I originally found FC back in 1978. Created by Ben and Jerry (of ice cream fame), FC, back then named "Freakish Conservatives," was a hotbed of political discussion for new, upstart conservatives. DoctorDoom was just MedicalStudentDoom, Timberwolf was Timbercub, and Maximum Sam was Minimum Sammy.
Ah, yes, the arguments, the death threats, the computer viruses... It was truly the days of wine and roses. Then IT happened. Senior was elected. Conservatism was redefined for the benefit of a "kinder and gentler nation"--and I faced the first of numerous bannings (under another pseudonym, of course).
Yet through it all, FC endures.

I discovered Townhall's board, moved to this one and stayed throughout all its reincarnations. Meanwhile, I slipped a mickey in WolfCounsel's beer and persuaded him to drop some broken-down forum and join me here and have some REAL fun.

Got kicked out of Free Republic because I posted an article regarding Jane Fonda's treason. Whats-his-name at FR said it was an ' urban legend'. We went back and forth and he terminated my posting privileges.
Went to GOPUSA and got kicked out for making a crack about Bill Clinton's treason regarding China.
Then I googled for conservative forums and found FC.
I don't count getting kicked out of DU.

He was having major financial and personal problems. UC was grinding him down, so he closed it. It was for the best. What he's up to now, I have no idea, but he's probably glad of his decision.
Re Annoyed Army, if you don't mind referring to BJ Billy as President Clinton and Shamu Mooron as Michael Moore, and behaving as though the admin had a hand in your shorts and a tight grip on the family jewels, AA is the place to be. I posted there for a while, but felt as out of place as a street fighter at a cricket match. Being cloyingly nice is NOT my style.

Late one night, wired and bored, I typed "conservative forums" in Google. I lurked for awhile, maybe a month, reading and getting to know some of the characters here; then I saw a thread concerned with the Electoral College (exciting stuff ain't it?) and thought it needed more perspective, so I registered.

I had been working on my blog/conservative site/"digital purging project" and was looking at other conservative sites to try and do a little networking. Kind of looking for guest bloggers when I came across http://www.radical-conservative.org/ (good site, BTW).
There's a link in there that led me here. I read through a few posts and was drawn in by the level of discussion and interaction between members. It was also refreshing to see such a vibrant conservative community out here.
I'll admit it was a little intimidating at first- never done much in the way of actually participating in a forum. Have always been more of a lurker.
Anyhow, I'm glad I joined. I'm addicted. On my browser I always have 3 tabs open:
My site, FC and google reader with all my RSS subscriptions.
Great bunch of people here. I don't agree with everyone on everything... but then, what fun would that be?

I'm a refugee from another conservative board, where all opinions are welcome except for those that don't agree with the opinions of one of the admins/mods. :shame: I got fed up with the multiple standards there and bailed out. I won't mention specifics, but DoctorDoom has it nailed...
I'm also a member of a few conservative boards on Delphi, and I have my own non-political board on Delphi (Coast Guard Discussions [I'm a CG vet and served from 1964 to 1968]).
I was referred by a good friend named Nancy (who should be joining the site soon), and we both know pRimrose, who is a member here. There may be others, too, but I just started looking around the place!
