I was thinking about the upcoming elections and paused on this question: would I vote for a bad republican just to keep out a democrat when there is a more worthy candidate who best fits my views?
Before I would have said yes, but now I cant tell much difference between either major party.
The constitutionalists will soon have my support unless the GOP decides to stop playing nice.
Curious as to your views.

It's a good question, especially under the system in which the ruling party chooses the committee chairmen. I think it all depends on how you define a bad Republican. If a prolife Democrat is running against a proabortion Republican, you know what to do.

I've been saying it for awhile, Eagle. I will not vote for a GOP candidate that continues supporting Illegal Immigration, Amnesty for it, entitlements for those people and uncontrolled spending. I will vote Constitutionalist before I vote for a bad GOP. So far, the only one that fits my idealogy is Tom Tancredo and I don't foresee him getting the nomination.

I can't tolerate liberalism, socialism, communism, or libertarianism, if the GOP can't run a Pro-life candidate that isn't going to move in one of the four directions i previously mentioned, then i won't waste my time voting.
Unfortunately voting for any third party is a waste of time.

sadly, a third party has no real chance of winning, but I cant bring myself to not vote, even if for a hopeless candidate

Yeah, it is sad, i think i have been conditioned for it living here in New York, and never being able to affect national elections...

Eagle, that is the $1 million question that haunts me every election day.
I'm sorry, but I'm a coward. As long as there are liberals like Hillary running around, I will continue to vote Republican. A third party is a long way from making any difference ... except that of removing votes from the GOP.
I know, I know. It's a vicious circle. But I cannot bring myself to waste a vote and make it easier for liberals to win. Not now, not ever.

I completely agree. Voting for a 3rd party or not voting is a vote for someone like Hillary, or worse.

 There was a time I'd vote for a pro-life democrat over a pro-abortion Republican, but no more. First of all, I won't vote democrat for any reason until at least 2020, after the way they tried to steal the White House in 2000. But, you also have to consider that even a pro-life democrat will be pressured by party colleagues on abortion-related issues.

The hypotheticals are too vague for me... Show me the actual candidates and I'll decide then... Its a long time between now and the next big election... The names and faces could change significantly between now and then...

the real point of voting 3rd party i see is to protest against the GOP for raising taxes like GHWB did and perot got alot of votes . if the GOP has learned anything from 1992 they wont nominate a Socialist like Mccaine or a Liberal like Guilianni . the only democrat i would vote for would be Zell Miller who has respect for the Constitution but i'd rather see him run as vice-prez along with someone like tancredo .
