Welcome to Islam for Dummies, Vol. 1

MADRID — An imam who wrote a book on how to beat your wife without leaving marks on her body has been ordered by a judge in Spain to study the country’s constitution.

The judge told Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, imam of a mosque in the southern resort of Fuengirola, to spend six months studying three articles of the constitution and the universal declaration of human rights.

From The Quote:

"The judge told Mohamed Kamal Mustafa, imam of a mosque in the southern resort of Fuengirola, to spend six months studying three articles of the constitution and the universal declaration of human rights."

'S that so he can write a book on how to beat the country's constitution so one can get away with beating their wife? He'll entitle it How to Beat The Declaration of Human Rights Without Leaving A Mark!
:uhh:

Cultures are neither right nor wrong. They are simply different. Sometimes so different as to be incompatible. If the world just recognized that instead if trying to put all the round pegs in all the square holes, we'd go a longer way towards peace, than both side thinking they have the corner on a better way to live.

<!-- / message --> You see, the problem is that we are trying to make them live by our cultural standards, and we just can't be allowed to do that. We don't have a "corner on a better way to live."

Part of the way to peace is to allow men to beat their wives if their culture permits or even requires them to do that. Not allowing them to do so is like "trying to put all the round pegs in all the square holes."

Besides, all these problems are really Bush's fault. :(

Ahhh, I get it, it's the precursor to the Federation's Prime Directive . . .

Prime Directive - Memory Alpha (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Prime_Directive)
Also known as Starfleet General Order 1 (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Starfleet_General_Orders_and_Regulations), the Federation (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Federation) Prime Directive states that members of the Federation (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Federation) (including Starfleet (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Starfleet)) must not interfere in the natural development of pre-warp civilizations (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Pre-warp_civilization), be it by intervention or the revelation of technology (or the means to create such technology) to the inhabitants of pre-warp civilizations.
Starfleet officers are required to understand that allowing cultures to develop on their own is an important right and therefore must make any sacrifice to protect cultures from contamination, even at the cost of their own lives.

Originally the Prime Directive was a shield to primitive worlds, but it was later amended, prohibiting Starfleet officers from intervening even if it would result in the extinction of an entire species or even the end of all life on a planet or star system.
