I know, there were so many poor ones, thanks to Sandra Day and Tony Kennedy, but try to keep your list to ten decisions. (I'll add a few more as I think of them.)
The Best:
Bowers v. Hardwick (sadly overturned by Lawrence)
Texas v. Johnson
Lopez
United States v. Morrison
Apprendi v. New Jersey
Good News Club v. Milford
Zelman v. Simmons-Harris
Blakely v. Washington
The Worst:
Maryland v. Craig
Lee v. Weisman
Planned Parenthood v. Casey
Grutter v. Bollinger
Lawrence v. Texas
Roper v. Simmons
Ashcroft v. Reich
Kelo

Okay TIU,
For all us lay-people, and (under)educated, LOL, how's about putting a little description to go with the cases? :smirky:
I am deeply interested in law, but realize my shortcomings and limitations. I do want to keep up as best I can though. I do believe it our duty as citizens to understand what's happening around us in government and in law.
A little expansion, please, http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/icon12.gif
P.S. Of course, I guess y'all can take an ejamacated guess as to what I think was the worst decision, LOL.

I have started working on the legal issues covered by TIU's post (e.g., Bowers v. Hardwick, Roe v. Wade and Lawrence v. Texas are all "privacy right" cases), to explain what the court has done. Unfortunately, it is pretty time consuming and I haven't finished writing it yet; it is not yet ready to post.

I'm sorry Thomas, I wasn't implying that a long drawn out synopsis is necessary -- please forgive me! I just wish I was smarter on the law. I really do want to understand, but all the legalese is hard for this South'n brain to take in, LOL. It's difficult to relate to case names, but I understand if someone says, "hey this is about privacy rights," or "this is about property rights," etc.
Frankly, this is EXACTLY why I want to understand the law ... this stuff is happening right under the noses of the people, and we don't take the time to understand it (case in point, Kelo) and DRASTIC changes happen. Oh yeah, THAT we see, but I can't help but feel MUCH of this could have been avoided if the PEOPLE would pay attention, and most definitely feel the burden of responsibility to find out about things, get involved, read and listen!
I do appreciate all your hard work -- you're a blessing to those of us here that are so grateful for the efforts you put forth in assisting us with this kind of stuff. I know I sure count you among mine!
Thank you, and
Blessings,
Hms

No apology needed, Homes. I have already been working on it for a few days, on and off. I think TIU's idea is a great one, but not everyone is familiar with the cases. (I have had to go back and start looking at them again myself, so I thought other people might get something out of the synopses, too.)
It will probably take a good week before I can put something up on the thread that does justice...

What I like least about the whole Rehnquist thing is the fact that he died. I mean, I liked the guy, voting against the civil rights bill of '64 was the best thing he did. We need more judges for jesus, america is gettign more secular and the truth of religion is being blinded by the lies of science and the devil. Rehnquist voting against the bill goes with the bible, I mean Jesus was white, so therefore whites are superior to blacks, and Rehnquist voting against the bill definitely got him a place in heaven.

My disappointment with Rehnquist goes back before SCOTUS when he was involved with the Arizona courts. Regarding my dad's murder, he voted to bar Adamson's execution. Some history here (http://www.thenewamerican.com/focus/cap_punishment/vo06no17_cruel.htm)
Not only that, Kemper Marley, the Arizona godfather had Rehnquist as a lawyer and got away with murder.

I would say Roe vs Wade is the all time worst decision ever .
then probally the eminent Domain decision .
3rd is the decision that protects Sodomites from criticism .

You have no idea how hard I am laughing, seeing that the troll had two posts and was banned. The humor is great. It's almost as if Yukkie got to visit for a ahlf day and was pitched out again.
