The banner of St. George, the red cross of a martyr on a white background, was adopted for the uniform of English soldiers during the military expeditions by European powers to recapture the Holy Land from Muslims, and later became the national flag of England.

"A lot of Muslims and Arabs view the Crusades as a bloody episode in our history," he told CNN. "They see those campaigns as Christendom launching a brutal holy war against Islam.

I view 9/11, the 1993 WTC bombings, the 1983 Beirut bombing and the USS Cole, amongst others, as bloody episodes in our history too.

If they told me to take off my tie pin id come back the next day with a tatoo of it on my forehead. What is england coming to? Sick bastards who love 'slams more than their own heritage. Sick sick people, and with attitudes of peace in times of war deserve whatever they wont be prepared for and try to appease instead.

How stupid. Saint George to England is like Peanut Butter to Jelly.

That's the Saint George that was born in Asia Minor, lived in Palestine and is the Patron Saint of England, Moscow, Georgia, Aragon, Barcelona, Bavaria, Beirut, Czechoslovakia, Serbia, Lithuania and Hungary and battles, and probably never visited England.

Saint Wenceslaus is the patron saint of Czechoslovakia, as well as a few others.

All the same, what does it matter? Saint George has been the Patron Saint of England for hundreds of years.

True enough, but in a sense CP is right.

The Union Jack is the combination of three flags, all crosses representing different Catholic saints.

The red vertical cross on a white background is the Cross of Saint George, which represents England.

The white x-shaped cross on a blue background is the Cross of Saint Andrew, which represents Scotland.

The red x-shaped cross on a white background is the Cross of Saint Patrick, which represents Ireland.

Removing the Cross of Saint George from the Union Jack is, in effect, removing England. Of course, while they are at it, they could remove all references to Christianity, and just put up a red crescent on a green field.

Come to think of it, has the ACLU heard about this? Shouldn't they be suing to prohibit the display of the Union Jack as an impermissible reference to Christianity?

If it were not for the Crusades we would be all ****ing camels and flying planes into buildings.

Political correctness is the tool of the devil. I mean, are people REALLY that stupid and sensitive? The flag was there before they got there. Adapt or get out! Europe is Christian no matter how much the secularist and now the muslims try to deny it. Denying and supressing it's Christian roots will detroy Europe.

If it were me I would make a T-Shirt with .
