Has anyone ever been to Czechoslovakia? Here are some pictures of Prague I thought I would share.

Charles Bridge, one of my favorites with the Crucifix in it.

My three brothers and my oldest sister have been to Prague. They loved it. In fact, my next-oldest brother put a CZ bumper sticker on his car!!

Why do the houses have red roofs for? is it some sort of traditional roofing they use there?

Prague is famous for it's red roofs. The Red tiles are just traditional coloring pretty much.

I was there in '83, while on a here and there backpack and train trip to Europe. My then- boyfriend's mom lived there, and my little brother and I went to see her. Beautiful but sad city at that time as it was not yet free. I crossed the Charles bridge.

When we left I remember being so spooked by the government search of the train and compartments for any Czechs trying to escape. It was eerie. I am so glad they are a free people now.

I remember reading somewhere that Prague is the best preserved Baroque city in Europe, it escaped the Allied bombing.

Yes it did. We also managed to preserve most of the city, unlike the poor Poles who fought with courage and bravery during WWII, and Hitler demolished it. The Soviets did some damage, but it was more to us, the people, as opposed to physical buildings.

Yes, there is still a lot of apathy about life in Eastern European nations as a direct result of being sold out to the Germans and then occupied by the Soviets. I think Hungary might be the worst one in that regard.

Very routine. I remember incidents like that, I was quite young though.

You should. It's amazing, and cheap with American dollars, although it is getting a lot more expensive now that the economy is continuing to grow, as in most former Eastern bloc nations, which is a good thing.
