TYLER, Texas - Two Texans were arrested Wednesday on federal charges they stole pieces of space shuttle Columbia that had dropped onto the countryside.

Federal officials in Texas also declared an amnesty period extending until 5 p.m. Friday, during which people who have collected shuttle debris can turn it in without fear of prosecution. After that, prosecutions will resume, they said.

Why is it some people can't grasp the simplest of concepts--like shame?

I don't feel sorry for them. They were warned numerous times.

This must be the chick that pulled up to 5 people guarding the piece, jumped out of her car, ran over and picked it up with a baggie on her hand, and took off.

The people that were guarding it took a picture of her license though. Good thing. Some people are ghouls.

WL--I can hear her defense lawyer already: she couldn't help herself--she was soooo distraught over the tragedy that she needed a piece of the Columbia to bring closure to her grief!!! Close???

Or maybe this one: she couldn't help herself since she's lost her job as a result of Bush's economic plan and she hadn't been able to buy and take her prozac!! Better???

This was posted a few days ago.

"Risk said a group of five to six people were watching over what appeared to a PC board found in the passing lane in the intersection of Martinsville Road and University Drive when a woman in a 2000 blue Volkswagen stopped, jumped out of her car wearing a while plastic bag over her hand, scooped up the debris and began walking away.

“We asked her, ‘What are you doing?’ and she said, ‘None of your business,’ got back in her care and drove off,” he said.

A person in the group took a photo of the car as it left, including the license plate, and notified authorities, he said.

“We flagged down a police car, and they ran the information, found out who she was and where she lived,” Risk said. “I hope they pursue it."

When people take pieces of Columbia they are hampering an investigation that could save future lives. Not only should they be worried about the toxins NASA has warned may contaminate the debris, but also the blood that could possibly be on their hands if their scum-bag thievery prevents life saving answers from being found!

Too painless. Use the rope.

Did you see these two? The guy was an Army ROTC student at TAMU's second-chance school...(ouch! that would be Stephen F Austin University). The woman? I won't go there.

Get two ropes.
