I didn't know what else to title this thread ... I need some help, Freecers. My beloved Bubba's birthday is coming up, and I want to do something special for him (getcher minds outta the gutter, :smirky: ). I want to have a CD player installed in his pick-up truck (a cheap one, cause we hope to sell it sometime in the near future).
I want to give him his first CD to go along with it, and I want to make a mix for him of country songs about cars and trucks -- he is a BIG NASCAR fan, and loves cars/trucks, speed (like in driving, not the drug, :smirky: ). Can you think of any country songs about cars or trucks? I would greatly appreciate the help!
SO here's the songs I have on the CD so far:
455 Rocket by Kathy Mattea
Ain't Nothin' Wrong With The Radio by Aaron Tippon
Cadillac Style by Sammy Kershaw
Drive by Alan Jackson
Guitars & Cadillacs by Dwight Yokam
I Love NASCAR by Cledus T. Judd
Mercury Blues by Alan Jackson
One Piece At A Time by Johnny Cash
** EDIT: I thought of two more! **
Mud On The Tires by Brad Paisley
Pick-Up Man by Joe Diffie
I need MORE ... any suggestions?

Lyrics :-)
It was all that I could do to keep from cryin'
Sometimes it seems so useless to remain
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me by my name.
You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride.
You don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore.
Even though your on my fightin' side.
CHORUS
And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain.
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me by my name.
I've heard my name a few times in your phone book
I've seen it on signs where I've laid
But the only time I know, I'll hear David Allan Coe
Is when Jesus has his final judgement day.

CHORUS...
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect
country and western song because he hadn't said anything about
Momma, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk.
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent
it to me and after reading it, I realized that my friend had written
the perfect country and western song. And I felt obliged to include it
on this album. The last verse goes like this here:
Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train.
CHORUS:
So I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain. No,
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me, I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name.

Country, BigAl, country! LOL We actually have several ZZ Top CD's (I should rephrase that, I have them, I was the ZZ fan, LOL)
I'm going to try to find that CDB one, and I think, if I'm not mistaken Asleep At The Wheel ALSO recorded Hot Rod Lincoln, and if I can find that one I'm going to put it on the mix too (I have a large group of friends who have large collections of music, :smirky: )

Actually, I personally have a lot of CD's (Bubba has no player, I do), but what I wanted to do for him is a CD strictly with country songs about cars, trucks, and the like. He really likes driving, and that's what he does for a living (he runs a route for the local School Board). He loves vehicles ... most especially he wants an old Ford Bronco cut back, (wish I could afford to give him THAT instead of the CD player and the CD, http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/icon9.gif ). I know country is famous for songs about cars and trucks, so that's what I'd like to stick with for this his first official "truck" CD.

Probably just the cars and trucks -- he's not really a "trucker" per se, LOL. I wonder if I have that one by Toby ... I'll have to check my CD's, I don't remember it on any that I have. I have Greatest Hits I & II, and Shock 'N' Y'all.

HMS, what's wrong with Keith Urban? Yeah, yeah, he's an Australian country hippie boy, but this one song is the best he's ever done(it's the only song I like). It's about cars, and driving. The "Days go by", m'Lady! :thumb:

:moo: We've bought enough songs to fill two 80-minute CDs. I'd recommend a whole lot of other songs for HomeschoolrsRUs, but she specified car & truck songs.
:smirky: I'll have to admit, we were a little disappointed that Marty Robbins's "El Paso" wasn't available at the above site. We had to settle for John Denver's version.

Sorry Homes, I loathe country.
Now I do like some Southern Classic Rock, like Lynard Skynard and the Allman Brothers.

My mamma always said, "Never trust a man that don't like country music", LOL.
I think country music represents the very soul of America. I was not crazy about it as a kid. I was more into Areosmith, Bad Company, ZZ Top, Leon Russell and things like that. I did like that song, "Harper Valley P.T.A.", but I just did not want to be "like my mom", as most teens are like. I thought I was more "with it" than them old foggies. Then as I got older, I began to realize that country music was my heritage. I liked it more and more the older I got. Now I am like as old as a dinosaur, lol. It sounds great to me now. :-)
I normally do not listen to country music. However, I think Garth Brooks' "The Dance" is outstanding.
