This is a very popular thread at another forum I visit.
All you do is, as the title says, post a random fact about yourself. It is not a game or anything, so there are no posting rules, so feel free to post what you like whenever you feel like it.
Anyway, this past Sunday, I scratched the cornea of my right eye on a bag of mozzarella cheese. It's true.

Hah, not saying I would have done as well as you did, but I know I could have definitely done better if I could actually see anything the professor was doing. I went from an F to a B, however, after the second time through O Chem II, so I am happy with that.
Also, my school's O Chem program seems to be more difficult than Pitt Main's. Everyone seems to go and take O Chem at Pitt if they struggled with it at my school. My brother's orthodontist told him that he knew of three people who failed O Chem at my school, then got A's when they took it at Pitt.
Anyway, so what do you do that you needed to take O. Chem for? Were you a Biology or Chem major?

:smirky: Is there some rule that the highest grade has to be 100? Just maybe, even the best student only met 92% of the professor's expectations. I mean, that's what the grades are supposed to reflect. It's not as if the grade reflected the percentiles of the whole class.

No, I just wouldn't have ever thought the grades for General Ecology would have ended up being so low. I'd expect something like that from Organic Chemistry, but not General Ecology.

A 45.
The score everyone should strive for is a 30. With that, it is likely you would be accepted somewhere.
My mother is a nurse, and she was talking with one of the doctors about the MCAT, and she told me he said I needed three tens. There are three sections on the test, which include Physical Sciences (General Chemistry and Physics), Verbal Reasoning, and Biological Sciences (Biology and Organic Chemistry.) Each section is out of 15, so this is where the 45 comes from. I got an 11 on Biological Sciences, and 11 on Verbal Reasoning, and a 9 on Physical Sciences. I also got an R on the writing sample portion, which were two essays I had to write. The scale is from J to T. They have strange scales.
Some Osteopathic medical schools I have looked at had a score of 23 as the average for people that have actually been accepted, not as a minimum requirement.
Oh, and thanks Thomas. :)

Wow, do you still have them all ?
Yes ... sort of. One is in a jar at my mothers house. Unless she threw it out.
Do they present a problem or did they?
One would slip out from under the other before it was removed. That would lock up my leg. That wasn't plesant.
The leg with the knee it was under has the remaining knee cap somewhat looser than the leg without the extra one. The rubbing on the back of the one on top made it somewhat rough on the back of the one that's still there and that can wear the cartilage if I walk a LOT. But just everyday walking around doesn't do it. Sometimes if I step off a curb or too quickly down a step the loose knee slides and will give out on me.
Maybe that's more info than you wanted.
Not too much info. I could probably barf right now but I have a weak stomache, tis my fault :)
Glad it is taken care of, although I do wonder about having it in a jar? My mom has/had her gall bladder in a jar though, she took it when they offered it to her. Can't imagine taking them up on that offer. I was fascinated when i was 8, somewhere around 10 years old I started being sick thinking about it sitting in a jar somewhere in her bedroom..ewwwww.

We took it because at first no one knew what it was for sure. We had to take it to a lab covered by our insurance so the hospital wouldn't charge us the leg and an arm to find out if it was some sort of tumor. I am thinking (hoping) she has thrown it out by now. But you never know with mom.

Haha funny story! I was actually a model student (It saved me ..really it did) but I did get some detentions and saturday schools for being obstinent (speaking out against teachers if I thought their rule was retarded. I once got a Saturday school for taking a make up test I had missed in another class rather than stay in the class I was in for that period..that sort of stuff).
There was another chick in my school (year younger) with the exact same name as me. I blamed pretty much EVERY negative school notice in the mail on her..I got straight A's so I got away with it!
I broke down and told my mom this, when I was about 25 years old. I don't even think she was amused then!

When I was in school, my mother might have disagreed with teachers, but she would speak with them in private. By the time I was brought into the picture, Mama & the teacher would have ironed out any differences, & were ready to present a united front, ready to steer me in the right direction. That's how it should be.

My fav Atari game was Defender (I also liked space invaders because it was easiest to see on the tv). I liked to have my little defender-craft hovering above the city shooting everything in sight.
I did not like Qbert. I could never make him go that diagonal sideways direction with my simple up-down control paddle.

Gosh, we didn't have those games, we were lucky to have a working television, and it was a bonus if it was also a color tv,(usually sitting ontop of another non working television) AND triple bonus plus if our folks let us watch it. We played with things like logs...4ft sections of telephone poles that we stood on and rolled around the yard. Piles of leaves in the fall that we raked into "floorplans" and played house. I didn't realize how broke we were.

I once spent a wonderful afternoon at the home, and in the company of the truly interesting and intruiging Bobbe Arnst. Ms. Arnst was once married to Tarzan, a.k.a. Johnny Weissmuller. Ms. Arnst was a band and club singer and appeared in some movies around the 1920s & '30s. It was a FASCINATING day -- she had SO much memoriabilia, and pictures and autographs of ALL sorts of stars. I was truly captivated by a picture of Helen Hays in her youth, she was so beautiful, and the wonderful note she wrote to Ms. Arnst. Her stories of "old" Hollywood were simply amazing. It was a really great day!
I've tried to locate a picture of her on the net, but to no avail. Sorry, I just don't have the techno-genes for this kind of search, LOL.

We rearranged hay bales in the loft for our floor plans.
I got a new cell phone today and have no idea how to use it. Many people (customer service and otherwise) talked me into it, even saying that my phone should be donated to the Smithsonian! (It was only 3 years old and it still worked just dandy).
I will be forever figuring this thing out. Hopefully I don't break its chip thingies like I keep doing to my computers.

I preferred the straw ... it was less coarse to crawl thru .. but , yes ... bale forts ! Built tunnels and eveything ... ....

And there I was talking of my video games and you all had leaves and bales of hay and straw and whatever it is one bales!
I lived in a little suburb, I had no such bales and lofts. I enjoyed those type of things though, I maybe even would have preferred it :)

You're just like me! 47 degrees right now. No heat inside and I have a sweatshirt on.
I just looked up why people I know can run nekkid thru snow while I never seem to get warm. Got this:
Scientists have found a reason why some people never seem to get warm while others never seem to feel the cold: some nerve cell receptors deep in the body are stimulated by signals other than temperature.
Hmmm... interesting. I wonder what signals though!!!!

Maybe signals from our mother ship LOL I think it's around low 60s here...before I put on the jammies, I sat in a steamin hot bubblebath to warm up first...the jammies are to 'seal it in' LOL
