Controversial play helps them defeat the Angels. (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9679563/)
That Angels catcher shouldn't have run off the field like that. The batter is out when the ump says the batter is out.
Pierzynski hustled and took off for first base anyway, just in case. Sure the inning was over, Paul rolled the ball out to the mound with the Angels already coming off the field, so Pierzynski was easily safe.

they cheated . he caught the ball , the ump signaled he was out , the batter ran to first (cheating) and the blind umps even after a MILLION REPLAYS calls it safe .
CHEATER SOX WIN .
Only Liberals will say cheating is ok and that Video Evidence is fake .
The yankees are now OK in my book .
that UMP Denys like when Bill clinton said "i did not have ....." .
stupid Liberal UMPS .

The ump made two signals. The first arm signal was a sweeping motion to the right with palm down, indicating a swing with no contact.
The second signal with the clenched fist in and close to the body indicated the third strike.
He didn't call the batter out because it sounded like the ball hit the dirt.
It's easy to second guess the replay because it's slowed down, frame by frame.
But like the Angels coach said, the Angels didn't play well tonight. They should have made enough runs to absorb something like that.

this might very well take the wind out of the angels sails
they were flying high after beating the yanks
now the sox have a real shot at showing their dominance
a shame to lose on a call by the ump, but like their coach said, they shouldn't have let the game be close enough for one call to effect the outcome

I'm eager to find out how the Angels fans will receive the White Sox when they're introduced at the next game. That should be something. I think the fans will be into that game heavy.

Obviously you Side with the Liberal jackass UMP thats as blind as stevie wonder . the ball didnt touch the ground fact ! , over and over they showed the replays . Conservatives stick to facts not BS ! , Liberals dismiss facts and believe otherwise . the Video Replay doesnt LIE , the Ump could be lying .
anyways whats a san diego guy rooting for the Commie Sox anyways , why dont you just leave california for conservatives and go to Shitcago . traitor !
the Angels have beaten Cheaters before back in 2002 when they played the Giants , Barry Bonds has used Steroids , its not proven he used them then , but why would Bonds not use them in game 7 of WS .
so like Liberals you Believe the Word of a person who may be lying or not and did lie because the Video Proves it .
Conservatives believe in winning by being good not by cheating thats for the Liberals . :bdh:
my dad played baseball in HS and College (pitcher) and he was outraged that a UMP could be so stupid and biased .

The ump had the ball coming at him at 90 MPH! You have the advantage of seeing the SLOW MOTION replay over and over again.
Besides, it's just a baseball game. Get over it and stop whining like a liberal. :whine: LOL

Nice call, homer! Did you see the umps on tv later trying to spin their call so they didn't suck so bad?

No, I'm not aware of any "spin" afterward regarding the ump's call, but I know that it took a 4 minute delay in the game to explain to the Angels what just happened. They asked all the umps and the decision was unanimous. They could have asked 10 umps and the answer would have been the same. They apparrently heard the ball hit the ground, which we now know is not what happened, but they don't have the advantage of instant replay ON THE FIELD.
If you watch the local sports, as I have (here in N. California), they keep saying that the ump called the guy out. He obviously did not, or else that batter would not have tried to run to first base. ESPN and other outlets report that the umpire's last signal was for the third strike, which is correct. I'd rather side with ESPN, an UNBIASED source. Strike three does not mean you're out. When the ump says you're OUT, then you're out. Not because you run off the field and roll the ball up to the pitcher's mound.
I did see the press conference after the game, live on ESPN. The Angels manager said the Angels played poorly and should have scored enough runs to absorb something like that. When asked later in the press conference, the Angels manager said that he did not favor instant replay in baseball. Totally against it.
Umps make bad calls all the time, but that's the nature of the game. Besides, THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!

I've said for years that instant replay should be used in controversial calls in all major league sports. The original argument against was that it took so much time, but that was in the Seventies and no longer applies. Today they have instant replay instantly available, and you can see a play from several angles.
Assign an ump to the game whose job is instant replays. He sits in the press box and rules on calls upon request. No limited number of requests per game -- there's no need for that. The thing is to get the call right.
Umps make bad calls because they're human, not because they're liberal or conservative. That whole idea's about the dumbest thing I ever heard.

"When you're not swinging the bats well, you look flat," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
"John wasn't out there and wasn't awful, but he obviously wasn't as crisp as we had seen him and as crisp as he was against the Yankees," Scioscia said.
I guess the White Sox didn't need the umps help tonight.
Now lead the series 2-1. (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/playoffs/2005-10-14-white-sox-angels-game3_x.htm?POE=SPOISVA)

I'm so disappointed. I really wanted the Angels to win. I suspect one of our new kittens jinxed the whole thing...I caught him molesting the rally monkey...and it was then I realized...this particular kitty has 'white sox' and knew then we had a traitor amongst us. Disappointed on so many levels...but I have until spring to re-educate this wayward kitty and 'splain to him that in THIS household, we root for the Angels, regardless of our markings. Better luck next year Angels.
