I've got some seeds by the window but I started them so long ago I think they're rotten by now! I follow the darwin method of gardening: most things die but a few tough hardy species survive, and I make do with those.
My house plants are really coming along. I have discovered that it takes about ten years to really get your house plants set up properly, what with judicious pruning, placing of the plants, moving them around, learning each one's preferences, etc. It seems to me that location is the most important thing for a successful house plant. If it likes where it's located, you can see it start to warm up to in as little as a day.
Another project: set up some of those flourescent light bulbs in the basement inside of those silver "dome" work lights. It takes a LOT of light to grow plants only by artificial light.
Hey! would anyone do me a favour? I've started a great big internet project, using famous poetic quotes of plants and combining them with pictures, photos, drawings, etc. Please pop in and have a visit. You scroll over the species name, and the picture appears. But remember, it's just started.
