Ex-Crips leader Williams executed

SAN QUENTIN, California (Reuters) - California prison officials executed Stanley Tookie Williams, the ex-leader of the Crips gang who brutally killed four people in 1979, early on Tuesday after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and top courts rejected appeals to spare his life.

The time of death was 12:35 a.m. PST (0835 GMT) Tuesday.

Will the anti-death-penalty zealots who see these photos change their views? Of course not. They'll say that by executing the bastard, we're no different than he is. Believe me, we're far better than him, as anyone with half a brain who sees these pics will be able to figure out.

August 3, 2005: Williams was given a President’s Call to Service Award for his good deeds and received a letter from President George W. Bush congratulating him for showing “the outstanding character of America”.

August 6, 2005: A spokesman for the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation said that neither the council nor Bush had any way of knowing (http://www.streetgangs.com/magazine/tookie080605bush.html) that the person they were honoring was a condemned multiple murderer.


This is why those idiotic awards for anything should be done away with. It's like the Texas legislature giving that award to the Boston Strangler some years ago.
