Anyone else just see/hear that exchange between Ted Kennedy and Arlen Specter regarding a request that Senator Kennedy sent to Senator Specter, who chairs the Senate judicial committee? Funny little exchange where Teddy Kennedy tries to pin down Arlen Specter to an executive vote for subpoena of CAP records.

I'm sure it'll be all over the news - I maintain that Teddy Kennedy is just getting grouchy as we're approaching the lunch hour. Someone get him a sandwhich, fast.

That was fun. I think Kennedy was taken by surprise by Spector.

Now lets see of Spector ends up caving.......

Kennedy is an embarassment.

Why not focus on judicial issues, novel idea.

KENNEDY: And I want to do that at an appropriate time. I’d move that the committee go into executive session for the purpose of voting on the issuancing of -- the sole purpose for issuing the subpoena of those records.

SPECTER: Well, we’ll consider that, Senator Kennedy. There are many, many requests which are coming to me and many quarters. And, quite candidly, I view the request -- if it’s really a matter of importance, you and I see each other all the time and you have never mentioned it to me.
And I do not ascribe a great deal of weight -- we actually didn’t get a letter, but...

KENNEDY: You did get a letter. Are you saying...

SPECTER: Well, now wait a minute; you don’t know what I got. I’m about to...

KENNEDY: Yes I do, Senator, since I sent it.

SPECTER: Well, the sender does not necessarily know what the recipient gets, Senator Kennedy. You are not in a position to say what I receive.
If you’ll bear with me for one minute.

KENNEDY: But I am in a position to say what I sent to you on December 22.

SPECTER: You’re in a position to tell me what you sent.

KENNEDY: I renew my request, Senator. And if I’m going to be denied, then I’d appeal the decision of the chair.
I think we are entitled to this information. It deals with the fundamental issues of equality and discrimination.
This nominee has indicated he has no objection to seeing us these issues. We’ve gone over the questions and we are entitled to get that kind of information. And if you’re going to rule it out of order, I want to have a vote on that here on our committee.

SPECTER: Well, don’t be premature, Senator Kennedy. I’m not about to make a ruling on this state of the record.
I hope you won’t mind if I consider it, and I hope you won’t mind if I give you the specifics that there was no letter which I received.
I take umbrage at your telling me what I received. I don’t mind your telling me what you mailed. But there’s a big difference between what’s mailed and what’s received. And you know that.
We’re going to move on now.
Senator Grassley...

KENNEDY: Mr. Chairman, I’d appeal the ruling of the chair on this.

SPECTER: There has been no ruling of the chair, Senator Kennedy.

KENNEDY: Well what is the -- my request is that we go into the executive session for the sole purpose of voting on a subpoena for these records that are held over at the Library of Congress -- that purpose and that purpose only.
And if I’m going to be denied that, I’d want to give notice to the chair that you’re going to hear it again and again and again and we’re going to have votes of this committee again and again and again until we have a resolution.
I think it’s...

SPECTER: Well, Senator Kennedy, I’m not concerned about your threats to have votes again, again and again. And I’m the chairman of this committee and I have heard your request and I will consider it.
And I’m not going to have you run this committee and decide when we’re going to go into executive session.
We are in the middle of a round of hearings. This is the first time you have personally called it to my attention, and this is the first time that I have focused on it. And I will consider in due course.
Now we’ll move to Senator Grassley for 20 minutes.

I heard the exchange played over and over on Rush today. Senator Kennedy (aka Pervo-Ted) made a fool of himself. As Rush pointed out, it is not easy for a liberal Democrat to make an enemy of Arlen Specter, considering Senator Specter & Senator Kennedy agree on pretty much everything.

Ok, I'm just back from work, tired and cranky.

But I have to comment on what happened today. On the one side, I'm happy because democrats shot themselves in the !@#$%^&*& this afternoon. On the other hand, I am appalled, sickened, and disgusted.

I am desperately trying to get hold of Kennedy the Drunk's website in order to tell him that someone with his dirty past should stand in judgement of a good man like Alito is simply outrageous. And I'm going to tell him exactly that.

And the same will go to Shumer, Durbin, and that bitch Feinstein.

Someone has to tell these maggots that enough is enough. :flame:

Here's what I sent that drunken tub of lard:

Senator,

I just want to comment on your behavior in the Alito hearings today. It was appalling.

That someone with your disgraceful past (and you KNOW what I'm talking about) should stand in judgment of a good man like Judge Alito is preposterous. You should be ashamed of yourself, Senator (but those of us who have been following your career know that you are incapable of such thing). Your behavior was beneath contempt ... as are you.

I don't know whether your minions will allow this message to reach you, but someone will have to read it. And while whoever is at it; he/she might want to correct a word in the above list of topics. The word is EDUCATION, not EDUCTION, as it reads in the list.

Sincerely,

My name

Believe it or not (but of course you will) when you scroll down his list of topics, the "education" is actually spelled without the A. LOL.

This is what I sent to Durbin, Feinstein, and Shumer.

Senator,

Your behavior during the Alito hearings has been revolting.

The only consolation I can derive from watching your hate-filled performance is that it will convince more and more people to vote Republican.

You, sir, are a disgrace to the Senate and an embarassment to your party.

Sincerely,

My name

The last paragraph in the message to Feinstein read like this:

"You, madam, are a disgrage to the Senate and your party, and an absolute embarassment to your gender. No woman deserves to be represented by someone like you. Not even Democrat women."

Which of course, is incorrect, as feminazis and Feinstein more than deserve one another. But I had fun writing it, so :licky:

Nice response Maggie. You were precise and laid out your anger. Here's what I'd of done differently. And it's simply my take no more no less. (BTW, none of the jerks from Murtha to Reid has bothered to respond to my rants. Do you suppose my computer is bugged? My phone lines?.....Gasp.....).

Anyway, I'd I'd list E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G this son-of-a-bitch has done starting with cheating in college. List it, transgression for transgression, date for date. And on a side note, it's my understanding that Ted Kennedy has never so much as offered condolences to the family of Mary Jo Koepechnic (sp).

God what these people won't do to win their way. Can you imagine the arrogant laughter in their offices when they read our emails. Face it, we're trailor trash to them - not worthy to lay in front of their office doors as mats. These are people who do not "see" you or I when they walk down a hall. These elites do not believe you and I are capable of a coherent thought or possess an IQ level above a neck scarf.

Wow Maggie in the time I wrote a response about Teddy, you got busy with those other smucks!!! You rock and may I be the first tonight to say, you are a Righoutous ConservaBabe. Right On!!!!!

(Right On is a 1970s expression which I've uncovered up in the attic stowed away with pet rocks and smiley faces. I brought him downstairs, dusted off the cobwebs, and have decided to re-gift the expression to friends and family.)

Teddy "Swimmer" Kennedy is senile. He couldn't even read from Feinstein's script without stumbling over the words and losing his place. Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

:smirky: During the Bork hearings, there was a political cartoon showing Drunk-a-Ted down on all fours, a fish ("Chappaquiddick") hanging out of his back pocket, saying, "I smell something fishy, but I can't put my finger on it."

Specter to Ted: "...And I do not ascribe a great deal of weight -- we actually didn’t get a letter, but..."

Yeah, Ted, you'd better watch how you try to throw your weight around. If you got careless, that much weight could do some damage.

Thanks, terri. I've so had it with these socialist clowns. I wish I could appear suddently in front of them and give them the bitch-slapping they deserve. I know it's infantile to say a think like that, but these lowlives are so tiresome.

It was hard to be restrained, Moo, but I succeeded. But it was hard, believe me.
