WASHINGTON (AP)- Senator Joe Biden says Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominees should be abandoned.

Biden says the nominees are so mum about major legal issues at their Senate confirmation hearings that the hearings serve little purpose.

Biden's no longer useful, IMHO.

:smirky: For once, he's right about something. These circusses were started to harass Reagan's nominees. Now that the demonicrats are in the minority, they no longer have the power to do that. We need to go back to the good old days when the nominee was given a quick vote.

 Although, I'll admit that Harriet Miers's delay was needed. Of course, the liberals now regret that, which could be why they're now saying that confirmation hearings are unnecessary.

Before they change the process, any chance we could recall Ginsberg and bitch-slap her for three days like we should have done the first time?

I agree, Moo. These hearings are just arenas in which the Kennedys, the Feinsteins, the Shumers can vent their hatred for conservative nominees. That's all.

Bitch-slap the Republicans that voted for Ginsburg, especially after what the Democrats did to Bork and Thomas.

Bitch-slap the Republicans that voted for Ginsburg, especially after what the Democrats did to Bork and Thomas. You ain't kidden. It astounded me at the time, how after Bork and then Thomas were roasted that the Republicans could lay down, saying "Oh let's be nice, maybe it will rub off".

What gets me so pissed off are Republicans like Graham. Here's a guy with a high conservative rating, bumbling like his previous peers. I heard him say (sometime ago) that turning down Robersts "would be the first time a nomination has been judged by his political beliefs" - I sat stunned. Where was this 11 year Senator know it all in the late 80's, tending chickens on some Carolina farm?

That's what REALLY gets me angry, those "new" know it all Republicans that start out like morons, trying to make peace with Democrats, totally ignorant of the conservative movement. I have nothing but contempt for these late to the movement phoneys.. clueless morons.

I think the recent Senate hearings have hurt the Dem's far more then the evil Republican nominations they so miserably tried to destroy. That is the reason the hearings are no "longer useful" (beneficial to them).

They just got bitch smacked twice in a row, not to mention the millions of dollars their "special interest" groups spent, to no avail!!!

And they can't get refunds!!!

hahahahaha!

Bravo. She should never have been confirmed.

Max, as usual, I could not agree with you more. These Kumbaya Republicans, as I call them, should be sternly smacked on the snout and told to stop it, or else. I've had enough of these Pollyannas, who think that if they simper to the democrats, they will all get along famously.

When will they EVER learn?! And you know what the worst part is? I think hubby is right. He says that these Kumbaya 'pubs just want to be liked by the press. And that just sets me on a :hissyfit: Liked by the press?! The liberals' most dedicated water-carriers?! When hell freezes over.

These weenies will be the death of the GOP, make no mistake. And what an undignified demise that would be.

:smirky: If I was a senator, I wouldn't grill a Supreme Court nominee, but as a matter of principle, I'd automatically vote against one that I knew to be pro-abortion.

I think the recent Senate hearings have hurt the Dem's far more then the evil Republican nominations they so miserably tried to destroy.I don't think anything hurts Democrats. I don't think anything helps them, either. Biden's right but prolly for the wrong reason. These hearings serve no purpose because everybody who's interested already knew where he or she stood. Back when they started these dog-and-pony shows, the electorate hadn't wised up to the MSM-Democrat connection and allowed itself to be led where the MSM took it. Nowadays we know better and have Rush, Hannity et al to help us stay informed.

What the Dems have lost is the advantage of the four amen corners that constitute the MSM. Also, even Biden is aware of the perfectly awful impression Ted *hic* Kennedy is leaving. He's trying to set the stage to turn the cameras elsewhere so that Ted won't embarrass the Party so bad. Not that it'll help. Next thing you know, Ted'll be sandwiching another waitress with the help of another drunk liberal.

....and b/c the 'rats ask such stupid questions--let's be honest: if you're a pro-life senator, then you like Alito--if you're a baby-killing senator, then you hate him. The 'rats know that if we had justices who had interpreted the constitution, Roe v. Wade would never have happened. So any nominee whose a strict constitutionalist is a threat to the baby-killing business.

I agree, the hearings ARE useless and not needed.
-They cost too much tax money.
-Further prove how dumb Democrats are.
-Waste air time.
-Keep elected officials from doing something worthwhile. (Yes, an Oxymoron)
-We have a majority. Just vote and be done with it.

Well, Senator Joe, you dumb son of a bitch, it's like this: if you RAT assmites would actually conduct hearings rather than witch hunts and character assassinations, and stop the bloody litmus-test bullscheiss that you condemn when the Republicans do it, the hearings might actually serve a purpose.

And BTW, you farking idiot, a candidate is under no obligation to tell you and your inquisitor cronies how he/she would vote on any specific issue.

You and yours were well and truly outclassed and hopelessly overmatched by soon-to-be Justice Alito. Go find a dark corner, curl up in the fetal position, suck one thumb and shove the other up your butt, and cry yourself to sleep whining about what utter asses you and your ilk made of yourself.

Even DUh doesn't like you any more. That took some doing, Joe.

Its convenient, the timing.

Fat Ted already got his licks in and now Joey wants to get all 'soft'.

Its like the frat boy who watches his bud molest the drunk girl on top of the pool table. He only comes to defend her after he's gotten his jollies too.

I think Joe Biden's a faggot. Not that I have anything against faggots, mind you. I just think Joe Biden's one. And that's his Constitutional right. But I bet he is. As he has every right to be. Queer. Strange. Odd. Different.

Faggot.

This is 2006. I think he's bi. Like all things chic; flared slacks, naked sushi, cappucino colonics, designer crack, vaginal reconstruction and being bi. Its part of the promotional package in DC.

Biden says the nominees are so mum about major legal issues at their Senate confirmation hearings that the hearings serve little purpose. What he really means is nobody takes the Democrats seriously any more, and they want to take the ball and go home.

Hey, Wyatt, I MUCH prefer the roomful of agonistes to Pretty-Boy George in your sig. Bring them back!

I believe the confirmation hearings should be scraped. What's the point anymore? All it shows is our leaders can try and bully someone to admit to things that are completely out of context most of the time.. Up and down vote... I'm sure the Senators see all the information they need to form an opinion long before they grill the person... So let's get on with it.. There are more important things the senate should be dealing with, rather than grill someone about something that happened in the 80's or when ever... It's just silly....
