WASHINGTON, - CBN has confirmed that Dr. Pat Robertson sent a heartfelt apology on Wednesday to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s Son, Omri.
In his two page letter, Robertson asked for forgiveness for remarks made last week on the "700 Club."
"My zeal, my love of Israel and my concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of a national grief experienced because of your father’s illness," Robertson said in the letter.
Robertson, who is known for his strong and passionate support of Israel will continue to pray for the safety of Israel, and for the divine claim of the Jewish people.

<!-- begin body-content -->WASHINGTON - Israel accepts the apology of the Rev. Pat Robertson for implying that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was struck down by God for giving up the Gaza strip, Ambassador Daniel Ayalon said Friday.
After Robertson's written letter to the Sharon family, Ayalon said, "Israel respects Rev. Robertson and accepts his apology, which reflects his true friendship and support for the state of Israel."
In a letter dated Wednesday and marked for hand delivery to Omri Sharon, the prime minister's son, Robertson called Sharon a "kind, gracious and gentle man" who was "carrying an almost insurmountable burden of making decisions for his nation."
"My concern for the future safety of your nation led me to make remarks which I can now view in retrospect as inappropriate and insensitive in light of a national grief experienced because of your father's illness," said the letter.

Wasn't that the point?

Wasn't that the point?
Yes. Robertson only apologised because his financial interests were at stake here.

This guy is hurting his credibility beyond repair. Although I strongly believe that everybody has a right to apologise and say they're sorry, the believability of this is beyond me.

To be frank, I don`t believe Robertson believes one tenth of the shit he spews out. But he knows many folks do and he knows how to make money from it. I know he`s harmless as a person but it`s sobering to think many follow him. That`s what the public schools do for ya!

Dear Robertson:
Shut the F*** up, I'm sick of hearing you blab off like a fool and then apologizing a few days later.
I'd rather you shut your ugly mug ahead of time and be a decent human being. This way we don't have to be annoyed by you every other month. Now, kindly go back to fleecing your mindless flock and have a great weekend.

Well, atleast someone accepts Robertson's apology, can't say the same for every Christian! But considering all the good Pat has done, forgiveness is owed to him.

If this exact scenario wasnt repeating itself about every 6 weeks, I'd agree with you.
Pat Robertson has put our collective feet in his mouth more times then I care to count in the last couple years. He needs to stick to faith and stay out of the political minefield that he has become so inept at traversing.

You're right, bro... Its just too delicious for them to let go this easily...
Ya know, if I had actually heard Pat say it when he did, my reaction would have been, "Dont be silly, Pat", and then moved on to the fridge to look for a snack... Its that much of a non-event...

 Christians who don't forgive? Sounds like somebody's a little unclear on the concept of Christianity.

I'm sorry, guys, but I can't agree with you. Pat Robertson is a big-mouth cretin and his does NO favor to Christians.
To begin with, he is increadibly arrogant to pretend to know who God punishes and why. NOBODY can pretend to know what God does without looking like a bloody, pretentious fool.
He gives Christians a bad name. We already have liberals and atheists to do that. We certainly do not need allegedly "one of our own" to help them out.
Personally, I wish he'd put a sock in it. :sulk:

I think most of us agree with you Maggie. I just can't stand it when libs and atheist point at Robertson as if to say the whole of Christianity is that way.

I have the impression he really believes that stuff. Thats why his apology seems unsincere to me.

What could Mr. Robertson do to convince people of his sincerity? I submit it wouldn't matter -- he remains "guilty" despite remorse, regret, and recompense.
People stick their foot in their mouth -- all people do it. He did it. I am not a fan of his ministry, but I'll not denigrate it either because I don't really know all that much about it. I agree with Doc -- it was an inappropriate thing to say at an inappropriate time, nothing more, nothing less.

He comes across as someone who sincerly believes that God uses natural disasters and in this case, illness as a punishment for violations against Him. He has stated so about situations that happened and also suggested some that might happen. If he truly believes that and then apologises for saying so, he just doesn't strike me as believable.

Who cares? He apologized, and that's that.
The point is, many Christians are quite embarrassed by him. But that doesn't mean he represents us(as many liberals and atheist like to say).
