<!-- begin bodytext -->Jack Carter, son of the 39th U.S. president, isn't getting any help in his planned run for one of Nevada's U.S. Senate seats from his famous father – polls show 61 percent of people in the state don't even recognize his name.

Carter, who has lived in Las Vegas since 2003 and is one of four children of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, announced yesterday he would seek the seat held by Nevada's junior senator John Ensign, a Republican. A formal declaration will be made next month in Las Vegas, where he lives, and Carson City, where his mother will appear with him.

Plaguing his nascent campaign (http://www.carterfornevada.com/) is a lack of name recognition.

"I'm disturbed by the Bush administration policies," Carter told Reuters. "I don't like the partisan bickering."

Seems he's got the Daschle blues. Another one whose 'disturbed', 'saddened and disturbed', not to mention 'troubled'.

Plaguing his nascent campaign is a lack of name recognition. I'd say the reverse is plaguing his nascent campaign.

"Disappointed" is the current buzz word.

A lack of name recognition.

No, it's the opposite. Everyone knows who is father is, and that's why he's being rejected.

Actually, he's probably doing as well as he is in the polls because most people in Nevada have either never heard of him, or think he's the celebrity.

His cheesy grin removes any question as to his parentage, however. :D

This blows my mind! I thought I remembered Carter's (mis)Presidency fairly well, it occurred during my youth. All of this time though, I was somehow convinced that Jimmy and Rosalynn only had the one child, Amy. Talk about lack of name recognition. :licky:

I guess the other children were older when Carter was elected in 1976 and he and Rosalynn may have actively worked to keep them out of the public eye. Even so, the only Carters I recalled besides Jimmy, Rosalynn, and Amy were Miss Lillian (his mother) and Billy.

From the article and his apparent politics, I'm sure the MSM will now do their best to ensure he becomes a household name.

The only other Carter child I remember is Chip. I believe he and his wife got divorced during the Carter--ahem--regime. I also believe Chip was a drug addict.

"I'm disturbed by the Bush administration policies," Carter told Reuters. "I don't like the partisan bickering."

This is telling because what he is saying is that if the Bush admin. policies did not exist(no Bush presidency) then there would be no partisan bickering. Its like a rapist saying, "If you would just lie down and take it, I would not have to rape you."

Now, if you just take the last part of his little formula, "I don't like the partisan bickering", what you get is someone who is afraid of a fight. 'The bickering, please would somebody make it stop!' IOW, a pansy and a puss. Just like his dad.

But if you take that phrase, it can also be broken out like this; 1) He is either a total dumbass since he does not know that his own party is the genesis of said bickering or 2) He knows it but pretends not to and so is deceptive.

The acorn does not fall far from the asshole tree.

Amy Carter was not an only child...however, I believe Billy Carter was!

Most people remember the Carter presidency with a shudder.

The hostage crisis.
The oil crisis.
The Billy Beer crisis.
The misery index
