What's the best deal out in cyberland for antivirus stuff now? Currently using eTrust.

If you're looking for free stuff that works well, I use AntiVir Personal Edition Classic:

I suppose it works well, cause I've been trouble free since I started using it. The program is updated regurarly, sometimes twice a day! Combined with the Windows XP firewall and cautious behaviour it serves me well.

Mind to pick the Personal Edition Classic download.

What's the best deal.......
Depends on what you mean by "best deal". I am very happy with Norton Internet Security 2006, but it sure ain't cheap. What you'd be happy with would be the best mix of functionality and price that appeals to you, and that really changes from person to person. I really don't know all the prices out there, so I can't really give a rundown of them.

Another consideration is who uses the puter. If just adults run it, and they understand the basic principles of security, you won't need as robust and comprehensive a package as a household with omniscient teenagers who know absolutely everything about absolutely everything, except not to click every damned email or IM attachment.

I have been very happy with AVG Free. http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01
You can set it so that it automatically updates when you get online (Once a day for the free version).

I myself use AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.1.375 and totally love the program. It's fast, uses little system resources, and does a very good job at stamping out viruses.

And the price is certainly right.

My Dad, who is a computer guru, going back to 1962, uses and highly recommends Panda Antivirus. I use it also. I pay $39.95 a year to renew my license, which gets me daily updates. This thing keeps my computer virus free.
