A woman accused of using racial epithets while waiting for food at a Connecticut Taco Bell drive-through window was arrested Wednesday.

Jennifer Farrelly, 19, of East Windsor, has been charged with ridicule on account of race, creed or color and second-degree breach of peace. Farrelly's boyfriend, Eric Satterlee, 22, of Ashford, was charged with breach of peace in the incident.

A friend and I were at a Burger King, and he asked for a large chocolate shake. He got a small one. He handed it back and said "Large please, Grande, Vente" The girl shook her head and said "no habla". My friend repeated "Grande no chico".

Thereupon I began to jokingly berate my friend "You stupid Gringo, you ought to be glad you got ANYTHING, don't you know this is the master race." The girl, who didn't understand english to the point of not understanding "Grande" called the manager who called us both racists and told us to leave before he called the police. I told him to go ahead and call the police, if he's going to complain that I called my friend a stupid gringo. He said "I know what you said, and I know what you meant when you said it". Isn't that just so charming?

I wonder how many people would be surprised if they knew that most "Hispanic" people legally here don't know squat about speaking Spanish. They are called wannabes, and in Mexico, they are called pochos.

If cops arrested me for exercizing free speech I would spend every penny I own to fight it. There is nothing in the Constitution or Bill of Rights that protects people from being offended. Like the INS would have done anything besides laugh at me. Fortunately that Burger King is closed down now.

If I complained every time some hispanic gave me heartburn I'd be doing nothing else. I live for the day I can make my escape from this little corner of mexico. Maybe living isn't the right word. It's all I exist for. This week alone, two people have stopped by to say good bye. One is going to Oklahoma, the other doesn't even have anywhere to go! She and her husband are going traveling to find someplace to settle down.

Can you picture that? For yourself, to have had so many break ins at your home, getting assaulted so many times that you sell out and just drive off and look for some refuge with no destination in mind. If you put yourself in that position, what would drive you to that point?
