that time of the year again. just wondering what some of your old favorites have been

mine has to be the tabasco one several years ago with the dude eating the tabasco pizza and watching the mosquito suck his blood and then explode while flying off.

some of you old timers might remember the mean joe green one.

along with the terrible ads (like most of last years) there are some really outstanding ones

My favorites (I'm so ashamed to admit this), were the "Bud Bowls," with the bottles of Bud and Bud Light battling. I also liked the ones with the Clydesdales playing football, and who can forget the frogs, :smirky: . Such a shame that the only commercials I remember have to do with beer (something I do not drink!)

Mean Joe Green's Coke commercial was my all time favorite. Actually, I was about that kids age at the time when that commercial first aired.

Mean Joe Green's Coke commercial was my all time favorite. Actually, I was about that kids age at the time when that commercial first aired. The best part about that commercial were the bloopers that happened while trying to make it.Seem "mean Joe"couldn't keep from belching. Those were funny.

For those of you who missed the SuperBowl, AND the commercials ...

Best and worst of Super Bowl commercials (http://www.townhall.com/opinion/books_entertainment/be_columns/katiefavazza/2006/02/06/185334.html)

I always enjoy watching the Super Bowl, but it usually feels like I’m watching a foreign film without subtitles. This year, I thought Super Bowl XL would be a perfect opportunity to learn some football terminology by applying it to the part of the game I already know and love: the commercials.

[ snip , snip ]

Drive of the Game: H3. “It’s a little monster” alright. Who knew that "C3PO" and a woolly beast could give birth to such a precious motor vehicle? Take that, Hybrid sponsorship.

(This (above) was the most hilarious ad I have seen in a long, long time. I was laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes, . -- Hms)

Best Draft Choice: Anheuser-Busch all the way. Bud Light was at the top of its game with their defensive plays [see below], and the other AB ads were effective, as well.

Best Defensive Play: Bud Light. I was relieved to be freed from the Bud Light vs. Miller Lite fight. Miller Lite didn’t make a single appearance thanks to the Bud Bowl men themselves. Favorite Bud Light display? Definitely the secret revolving wall ad. How can I get that installed in my dorm?

MVP: The baby Clydesdale, with the help of his elders and the Dalmatian. No other commercial managed to pull off a sensitivity that appealed to men and women alike. I heard one guy at the bar say, “There’s no feelings in football!” Thanks to AB, there are feelings--and men need not feel like they have to hide them. Interestingly enough, this year’s MVP also won “Rookie of the Year” for being the cutest baby horse around.
