STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - A Polish woman who was refused an abortion despite doctors' warnings that giving birth could damage her eyesight accused Poland on Tuesday of failing to protect her rights under its strict abortion law.

Alicja Tysiac, whose vision worsened after the birth and is now registered as disabled, asked Europe's human rights court to consider her complaint that she was unable to obtain an abortion on therapeutic or health grounds.

She says two articles of the European Convention on Human Rights, protecting the right to respect for human life and forbidding inhuman or degrading treatment, were violated.

I would give up my vision for the birth of my child. I don't see that she has grounds really. Nothing within that Human Rights article apparently protects her eyesight from being harmed. But maybe I am just looking at this as an extremely pro-life sort of person.

This is another reason why the EU and its puppets are a threat to Life in some european countrys.
Ireland and N.Ireland both have Abortion Outlawed:claps: . I didnt know Poland had such Laws.
I know most of south america and mexico have abortion outlawed except for Cuba.

Another thing about the EU.

The EU is starting to look more and more like a new age Goverment that wants to take over europe thru poltical and diplomatic and economical threats. In this country we have the tyrants in the SCOTUS that legislate from the bench and shove their Liberalism on the american people. I see the EU Court as a Giant Supreme Court that stretches beyond one country.

Poland, Abortion and EU Politics (http://www.savethegop.com/archives/2006/02/07/poland-abortion-and-eu-politics/)
The EU high court may take up a case regarding a woman whose eyesight was damaged as a result of not having had access to an abortion, according to this (http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle.aspx?type=healthNews&storyid=2006-02-07T172632Z_01_COL762772_RTRUKOC_0_US-POLISH-WOMAN.xml&rpc=22). I do not hold out much hope that the EU will rule correctly. Invariably it will rule that the woman’s rights were violated and slap Poland on the hand. Thankfully, integration has not reached the height of being able to force Poland, a devoutly Catholic country, to change one of the strictest abortion laws (a model for all) in the world as a reult of its EU membership.
It is a sad state of affairs when eyesight issues are used to claim the need for “therapeutic abortions”, aka destroying an innocent life. Bravo to Poland, their doctors and the child who escaped certain death as a result of the stance of the government of one of the world’s up and coming leading countries - morally, politically and economically.

Good points.

Sadly, George W. Bush is a big supporter of the EU. Just as sad is the fact that 7 of the current 9 Supreme Court Justices were nominated by Republican Presidents.

What the hell has having a baby got to do with one's eyesight? Does this mean that there was some truth in the belief that masturbation leads to blindness?

Abortion law in Mexico is as follows:

Grounds on which abortion is permitted:

To save the life of the woman Yes
To preserve physical health No*
To preserve mental health No*
Rape or incest Yes
Foetal impairment No*
Economic or social reasons No*
Available on request NoAdditional requirements:

Under most state provisions on abortion, legal abortions must generally be performed during the first 12 weeks (or 90 days) of gestation. Except in emergency cases, all induced abortions must be performed by a physician whose opinion on the necessity of the abortion is corroborated by another physician. Consent of the woman, or in certain instances (minors, etc.), that of her husband, parents or guardians, is required before the abortion is performed

Good question. I was thinking the same thing myself.

The woman appears to be a liberal tool who is trying to get Polish abortion restrictions thrown out by the radical EU court.

Dont forget that mexicos supreme court made their version of RoeVwade in 2000 of 2002 but it doesnt really change anything there.
Their abortion laws are still better then the ones here.
Besides if RoeVwade was reversed, we would probally only be able to outlaw it to the mexico has.
