For the second straight year, conservatives failed to identify a frontrunner for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, according to a poll taken at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

However, Sen. George Allen (R.-Va.) went from a middle-of-the-road presidential candidate one year ago to the favorite among conservatives in the 2006 straw poll, conducted by Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates.

Allen is a Conservative.
McCain and the other RINOs should do the GOP a favor by NOT running in 08.
McCain won the NH primary in 04 only because of democrat voters.

Allen was pretty good yesterday in his interview on FOXNEWS with chris wallace.

The straw poll is nothing more than a popularity poll. There's very little substance behind it. McCain is frequently in the media limelight, so he simply has the name recognition.

The funny thing is that in 1998 Conservatives were "Divided" on their canidate for 2000.

In 1978 Conservatives were "Divided" On their canidate for 1980

Funny how history has a habit of repeating itself.

That's why we have primaries. We liberals are divided too, over Warner, Bayh, and Rodham-Clinton. Many conservatives hate Clinton for her remark about a "vast right wing conspiracy". Screamin' Dean would make a good prez, but I think he should stay where he is and pave the way for future democrats. The last DNC chair, Terry McAuliffe, didn't accomplish much and I think he was just a corporate pet with no spine. Liberal democrats need to define themselves and stop letting the rightwingers do it for them.

I notice that the only people truly concerned that we havent lined up behind a candidate are the libs... They are dying to get an early jump on tearing the conservative candidate down...

We have no reason to rush into anything that gives them joy... We will choose our candidate when the time suits us and we will win....again.....as usual....
