Is it possible to have a private folder for known contributers to this forum - free from the prying eyes of trolls? Is the Members Lounge that sort of folder?

You mean prevent guests from seeing it? Yes, that's possible, but it isn't set that way right now.

No, not just guests... trolls too.

I'm talking about a private club where true conservatives can talk without guests and trolls muddying up the water and hijacking our conversations.

It could be done with an invitation only user group and a private folder where only members of that user group have access.

Yes, you can have a password protected forum. Whether or not we want to do that however, is a matter for discussion.

That is why I opened this thread although I'm sure you mods and admins will want to have your own discussion.

The Religion forum is a "public group" forum, which can be read but not replied to by anyone but approved group members. No password is used. It's also possible to make forums that are invisible to anyone but admin-approved members.

The idea needs to be hashed over.

The religion forum doesn't show up for me.

No password is used.I should have been more specific. You wouldn't need a password to enter that forum, but your login and password when you enter this site determines if you are allowed into the forum, so it's 'authentication' protected rather than 'password' protected. Sorry for the confusion.

Apparently the software does allow password protection on forums though, if I'm reading the control panel options correctly. You guys have been administering this particular software longer than me. I'm still learning it, having not been very active 'administratively' since several software versions ago. I was good on those versions though! LOL!

The religion forum doesn't show up for me.Hmmmm... maybe I saw it prior to joining it because of admin/mod permissions. If you want to join the forum, open your User CP, scroll down to Group Memberships on the left, and follow the prompts.

I thought I just added her to the group. Does she still have to submit a join request?
