Would you vote for a female for president? I would if she was a Republican.

I used to think I wouldn't until I realized there is no way I would vote for a liberal man over a conservative woman.
So yes, I would.

I'll vote for the best candidate - I don't see where sex (or race) has anything to do with it.
I would not vote for an acknowledged homersexual however. We get enough perverts in office as it is.

I vote for whoever is best suited for the job. Race, sex, orientation, religion have nothing to do with how I vote..

Gender should have nothing to do as to who is president. If a woman is qualified for the job, shares my values and I feel would best represent me, I will vote for her. Nuff said.

Most women who run for office, it seems, are liberal. Those who are conservative are often not supported by their parties and other potential sources of assistance.

As long as she douches on a regular basis using a trusted household name brand, I have no problem with a female prez.

I would vote for a female for Miss America, Miss Universe or Miss Clairol. I would only vote for a Conservative female for president.

Is Maggie Thatcher up to the job? I heard she was kind of ailing lately. Oh, wait. She wasn't born here, so she's ineligible.
So why not Warlady?

I don't vote on party lines. I don't like either of the major parties, but I defenintly will not be voting for Hillary if (more like when) she runs. So yes, if my views fit hers the best and I think the country would be run better under the respected woman, regardless of party, I would vote for her.

I would vote for a female president; I have no problem with that. As long as I don't see a closet filled with presents from the White House, it's a good start 'eh?
Actually, I think Condi's a brilliant woman and would defeat Hitlery on her best day.
If she was to run as the only republican on the ticket that fit all the necessary criteria , she has my vote. Due to the very nature of her dedication to the position she now holds, her ability to understand foreign affairs, and a host of other qualifications, I'd say she would make a great President ~

I would be a little uncomfortable with a woman president in all honesty. Call me old fashioned but I know what PMS can do to a gal. On the other hand, if she really really impressed me, perhaps with caution, I would not mind. I still adhere to the "man is the head of the household" belief and a woman president would certainly conflict with that. I think there are some very wonderful female political figures working for the GOP, but Commander-In-Chief? I am just not sure America is ready for that.

Charity, I used to hold your view, but who who would you vote for in this scenario?
John Kerry or Condi Rice?
To me, there is no contest.

Condi and kerry are both supporters of abortion on demand.
Plus condi supports affirmitive action.

John Kerry or Condi Rice?
Condi of course would be my choice. I would not vote for Kerry if he were the last "man" on earth. Condi is in fact a far better and more of a man than kerry is.

Charity, I used to hold your view, but who who would you vote for in this scenario?
John Kerry or Condi Rice?...Sorry, I dont like your scenario... Try again...
I honestly dont know about Miss Rice... Bush seems to like her in the position of Secretary of State, but in truth all that means is that she is a good spokesman for the foreign policies of Mr Bush's government... She is George's mouthpiece to the world...
She may be part of our favorite team in Washington, but that is far from qualifying her to be the leader of this nation... What are her positions on illegal immigration, gun control, private property rights, tax reform, NAFTA, CAFTA, (fill in the blank with your favorite issue)...? What qualifies her to be the Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces?
I happen to be in the same boat with Charity - and I dont apologize for it... I dont see an American Maggie Thatcher on the political stage, and quite honestly, she is the only woman in my memory who was courageous enough to be a national leader - and she relied a great deal on moral support from Mr Reagan... I believe that we have some outstanding women, Like Condi Rice, in support roles, but I cant support any of them simply on the premise that we should have a "Woman President" just to satisfy our need to prove that we are socially open-minded...
I will always support the TRUE conservative candidate... But these philosophical debates over a Woman president or a Black president are really just questions over how socially liberated we are, and they leave me cold...
If the question here is a veiled attempt to see what kind of support there is for a Condi Rice candidacy (which I suspect it is), my response is that I admire her a great deal and Im completely comfortable with her as Bush's foreign policy spokesman, but NO, I would not be comfortable supporting her as a presidential candidate...
There is this peripheral campaign being touted by the media for a head to head fight between Hilary and Condi, and it reeks of media sensationalism... The Presidency is NOT a social fashion show - we are choosing the leader of this nation... The idea of this nation actually finding itself with this scenario is a sign of our decaying culture... In such a case, I would probably decline to participate in the election...
Bring me a Maggie Thatcher and we'll talk...

Of course I would...if she were the better candidate of the 2 viable parties. Like others have said, I would pick a conservative woman over a liberal man any day.
That being said, I feel compelled to mention a factor that hasn't been addressed yet on this thread. Much of the world, especially the developing countries, is still composed of largely patriarchal societies, who would view a US female presidency as a weakness to be exploited or would resent having to conduct business with a female president. Although this challenge could be addressed, it is too big of a problem to ignore when we choose a candidate to represent our interests abroad.
What say ye?

I don't vote for a president based on what other countries think.

She's a bit past her prime now, but I thought that 10 or 15 years ago, Jeane Kirkpatrick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeane_Kirkpatrick) would have done a good job.
As for Condoleezza Rice, on international matters she's fine, and I understand she is a devout Christian. I have heard that she is wishy-washy on abortion, which concerns me. She has also made it crystal-clear that she won't run.
Find the right woman, and I will vote for her. Unfortunately, I am not sure who the Republican Party can put up (of either sex) with the stature and the character to be good for the job.
