I am, and have been since childhood, a game player. I like board games, card games, video games, pc games, outdoor games, and just about any games there are. I like the challenge, and perhaps it's about the company too -- as an only child, I had very few people to play with (my parents believed in the philosophy "we are your parents, NOT your friends."
I think the games I like the most are those that have an air of "mystery" to them. One that was always a lot of fun to play was Clue (the board game). When VCR's were invented, some smart person came up with a video version of Clue. Of course, I bought it, and have since almost worn it out.
Recently I download a game from AOL games called Mystery Case Files - Huntsville. It's kind of a puzzle whodunit, and lots of fun.
Do YOU have any games of this type you could recommend? How about another you've played recently that has a neat quirk or is somehow different from all the rest? How about sharing with your fellow freecers?

I suggest the two Riddle of the Sphinx games. You'll be listening to secret messages, studying star charts, learning egyptian mythology, deciphering hieroglypics, etc. Start with the first one, even though the graphics aren't that good by 2006 standards, because there is a common storyline to the two games. (Don't read too many reviews, as people seem to want to give away the mystery.)
Oh, and they are very inexpensive. You can get the first one for under $10 and the second one for $10-15.
You can find the first RotS here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004U8KC/sr=8-1/qid=1140553705/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-8620144-8379261?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance
And its sequel, RotS: The Omega Stone, here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006HCJ1/ref=pd_kar_gw_3/002-8620144-8379261?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&ref=pd%5Fkar%5Fgw%5F3&%5Fencoding=UTF8
Again, I'd advise against reading the reviews and comments, as people give away TMI.

Those sound cool Thomas! Are they downloadable, or do I have to purchase and have them sent to me?

Okay, thanks Thomas, I will check them out!! :thumb:
Have you ever played Myst? Peachdiane was so kind to send me her copy, and I've been struggling through it -- it's fun, but hard for me. Also I have two other "figure-it-out" kind of pc games, Frankenstein and The Mummy. I tried the TombRaider but it was just too difficult for me.

Yes, I love the Myst series.
The Riddle of the Sphinx games are a lot like Myst in design (you go around a huge world, clicking things, getting clues, etc.), but the puzzles are very different, as most of the RotS puzzles draw from some part of reality. For example, in RotS, one of the "puzzles" requires a VERY thorough reading of a certain book of the Bible. (Yes, the game uses the KJV.)

Oh Thomas, that sounds like a fabulous game! I'm so excited, I have to get that one ... wonder if I can find it locally, hmmmm. I don't purchase much over the internet, I'm a scaredy cat, but if I can't find it elsewhere I'm going to have to get it somewhere!
I liked Myst on my son's playstation system much better than my PC, though -- perhaps I'm just not as computer knowledgeable (or comfortable) as I am on the playstation, LOL. :smirky:

You can probably find a copy at CompUSA in their discount area. (Should be about 9 bucks) If not, the links I gave you have it for even less than that.

Yes, the video game controllers feel really good to use.
