The Democrats need a message and a new way of communicating that message to a mass audience. They have neither.

And do not be fooled by those who say this malaise is structural, at this stage of the electoral cycle there isn’t a presidential candidate etc.

No, it is more than that. The American left has faded away.
Only their bumper stickers remain, like cockroaches after a nuclear holocaust.

“Re-defeat George Bush,” they whine. Not knowing, not caring that the world has changed.

Oh, I'm sure the BBC is noticing the American left's political impotence. And I bet they're mighty concerned about it, too. They are partners in crime. The BBC has become as lefty as any of our alphabet-soup MSM.

The American left is dominated by Move-On, PAW, NARAL, ACLU, George Soros, Hollyweird hyperlibs, the MSM, Dean, Kennedy, Kerry, etcetera. They're so far out in left field that the ACP is right-wing in comparison.

I see a brilliant strategy on the part of the right. If our side appears to be moving to the center, it forces the libs/leftists to move even further away from the center in order to maintain the differentiation between them and the right. In so doing they move further away from the vast majority of Americans, marginalizing themselves to the point of irrelevance.

The problem with the American left being dominated by such groups is that the American left sees nothing wrong with it. They see no insult in such a coherent bond between them and the ultra-extremists out there. If any of them do manage to separate themselves from the wackos of the far left, the voices of unreason, they certainly don't speak against them.

The problem with the American left could very well be the company they keep.

Precisely. The BBC is sort of the British equivalent of the New York Times. And just as the NYT actually used to be a decent newspaper worth reading, the BBC actually used to be a decent radio station worth listening to.

Another excellent point. And it comes from the fact that the Leftists are often Gaia-worshippers rather than God-worshippers. Thus they feel it is OK to slaughter live baby humans, but slaughtering live baby seals is a dreadful thing that must be stopped.

Actually I do have something to add - In reference to Doc's comment that the near future will be interesting...

I believe the radical left is in control of their party AT THE MOMENT... And that is without a doubt the reason for their slide into oblivion... The radical arm of the left is all mindless adoescent emotion... The meet every social/political challenge with a viscious threat, and like the adolescents that they are, they have no real, mature, even partially rational plan... All they truly have to offer are the same old wornout failured concepts of Karl Marx... They believe THIS TIME they can truly make Communism work...

But their grip on the Democratic party has a limited shelf life... There is still a Cadre of old school democrats who, although their schemes for this country rely on tax and spend and a society dependant at least mentally on the government as the big sugar daddy, are prepared to watch and wait - Wait till the left has proven themselves to be utter failures... And then the old school boys will strike and take power back from the radical far wing...

They will package themselves as "Center Left" and will try to define that as the working man's friend - the OLD Democratic party of FDR and John Kennedy... A balance between national security and social security...

It is this old school crowd that will begin to take congressional seats back from the Republicans... Especially since there is a movement in the Republican side by our own version of the old school Democrats - The Country Club Republicans... The differences between these two groups are so minute that they fade into each other...

Yes the near future is indeed going to be intersting... Because in the short term I expect to see actual open violence from the radical left, followed by a move by the Old School Democrats to take control of the party under the banner of decency and a "return to American Values"...

Do not be suprised to see this Old School movement led by someone like Bill Richardson of New Mexico... He is no John Kerry or Teddy or that upstart opportunist Marxist Hilary... He is a savvy left wing politician... He knows how to talk to the politically naiive... He has a good face for national TV... And he is only of of a handful of pretty smart left-side boys who are waiting for the opportune time to strike and offer old style working American Democratic promises...

If the Republicans allow the Country Club Republicans to take control of their own party, the Old School Democrats are back in the game... The only way to hold on to the politcal controls in Washington is for Reagan politics and policies to be the standard for the Republican party...
