Wonderful news! I wonder who decided to shut off his breathing machine? The family sounds happy to have him back, this is a great story!!

same thing [ sorta ] happened to my dad
he'd been out for some days after having been given a drug that would either make him "more comfortable" or kill him
he didnt survive many more months after that however
that was nearly twenty years ago

think they'll tell him who decided to kill him?
not knowing would eat away at me, but maybe it would be better not to know

I hate to be morbid, but how much longer will the guy last? Emphysema is one of those illnesses that I think a lot of whose sufferers wish they were dead.
Remember that at one time, especially in the early '80s, emphysema seemed to be a job requirement for the head of the Communist Party in the Soviet Union. That was one of the reasons there were several bosses between Brezhnev (who I think also had it) and Gorbachev.
