Dirty politics this ain't: Senator saves rival's life
'Maybe this means we'll see a more uplifting campaign'
ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (AP) -- State Sen. John Giannetti was waiting for his take-out order of Italian food at a Maryland restaurant on Monday when he saw a man choking. He rushed over, performed the Heimlich maneuver and dislodged a chunk of seafood -- saving the life of his political rival.
The choking man, Jim Rosapepe, is challenging Giannetti in the Democratic primary for the suburban Washington district.
"It's one of those really weird, cosmic things," Giannetti told The [Annapolis] Capital. He said Rosapepe was hunched over and moving toward him in distress, so he decided to try performing the Heimlich. Rosapepe thanked his opponent for saving him.

Any bets that he will win because of this?

Guess that's what I get for being creative with the thread title -- no viewers and a reposting by another member,

No, 'sokay, :smirky: , it's my fault, like I said, for getting creative with the thread title. I should have just posted it like it was listed. http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/shrug.gif Oh well -- hopefully yours will get more traffic than mine. I myself got a little tickled at the story ... both are democrats, :smirky:

LOL a rat saved a rat. Funny story.
Wouldn't any of us save another though, regardless of political affiliation? 'Cept for those folks with "Bush '04" stickers on their cars, they get left behind, threatened even.
I still stand by the fact that I would probably do more harm than good in a situation like this, but sure as heck I would try to save even a rival :)

I'm sure Dr. Frist(R) would try to save Byrd(D) if he had a heart attack in the senate but he'd probally make Byrd sign an agreement to 'no malpractice lawsuits' before he treats him.

Shucks, I'd even save Ted's or Michael Moore's life, 'cept I don't think I could get my arms around that ponderous mass.
