In 1966, the Communist dictator of Romania, Nicolae Ceaucescu, outlawed all abortions with few exceptions. "The fetus is the property of the entire society," Ceausescu proclaimed. "Anyone who avoids having children is a deserter who abandons the laws of national continuity." The exceptions were: if a woman was over 40, if she already had four children, if her life was in danger - or, in practice, if she had Communist Party connections.
One response claims that Paul Harvey has said 500,000 women die giving birth in the U.S. every year!
