Faces
Written by: Carolyn Hileman
Seems we have seen a lot of them here of late, the faces of stars on TV all of them asking us to give, to help victims of Katrina and Rita or they are telling us how our troops simply cannot win this war. Seems they honestly believe that just by lending their names and faces to whatever the cause it will cause us to get up in unison and go about and do their work or give money. We have heard from most of Hollywood and some of Nashville who has their own way that everything should be ran, however they have not the will to make any of it happen.

First of all I may be wrong but I think we would appreciate it more and respond much more favorably if we saw much more of their hands. If we saw their hands helping the people of New Orleans pick up the debris that once was their home. If we saw their hands giving someone water or a bag of ice, maybe if we saw them giving someone clothes, or helping to load a mortar for the troops. But wait a minute they helped, they got up on stage and they sang a song and I am sure that the people of New Orleans are still humming that ditty as they put yet one more board on the fire.

Every single one of these people who can mange to put together a concert has two hands and legs to walk with. They could get on their jets and fly down to New Orleans or anywhere else and help these people, but instead they want us to do it for them. They want the rest of America to go do the work and feel good at night when they are drinking their wine at what all they did to help people. They will never dirty their hands to pick up trash, they will never look the poor women in the eyes who have lost every thing, but they will sing about it won’t they…

They feel so good about themselves as they watch volunteers bringing food water and clothing to those in need, they will honestly believe that they are the only reason these people managed to do anything. When tons of money is raised they will never believe that it is because Americans are a giving people it is because they put their faces out there and led us to do what is right, my, what it must feel like to be a God. When they could have simply done what evil Wal-Mart did and write a check or send supplies. But they couldn’t use their hard earned money; they might need it to buy another house or car.

They can go over to Iraq and try and help the enemy but they cannot spare a kind word for our soldiers or the people who were victims of the hurricanes. Yes, Sean Penn can sink a boat as long as the camera is rolling but when the media isn’t looking he leaves. Oprah can throw a fit at how here people are being treated but she certainly cannot spend her money to make that great Utopia she wants us to build, her face should be enough… Tim McGraw and Faith Hill talk about how the president should have told them to fix the problem by the time he got there or be fired. Excuse me Mr. McGraw but you have a staff as well and it is your city so why don’t you send them down there with the same instructions and see just how far that gets you… Put your money where your mouth is….

Good article! There's alot of truth to it. Amazing how the famous do little more than "ask for help."

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have more money than I'll ever have as does Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marseillas.
Worse still, these "celebrities" still finger Washington for the blame and forget about the incompetance of Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco.
