McCain to speak at Liberty graduation

U.S. Sen. John McCain - a likely 2008 presidential candidate who once labeled the Rev. Jerry Falwell an “agent of intolerance” - will be Liberty University’s graduation speaker on May 13.

“I was in Washington with him about three months ago,” Falwell said. “We dealt with every difference we have. There are no deal breakers now. But I told him, ‘You have a lot of fence mending to do.’”

Falwell, LU’s chancellor, said McCain, an Arizona Republican, is among the presidential candidates he could support in 2008.
“This is not an endorsement,” Falwell said.

Yeah, this is enough to make my facial tic come back. McVain courting the Right. Are we supposed to believe he won't zag back to the left five minutes after being sworn in...assuming he had a prayer of beating Hillary in the first place? Hell, I could maybe deal with his sorry self as POTUS, it's the fact he can't win but might manage to get the nomination that really bugs me.

McCain sucking up to the people whom he and Feingold silenced with his CFR law makes my skin crawl.

He's a hawk and a social conservative. Is the economy all you people care about?

*scratches head*

I know he came down on the wrong side of several anti-gun issues.

I believe he came down on the wrong side of the abortion issue.

I'm pretty sure he was MIA on several land-rights issues.

What was that again? Social...what?

No kidding. Social what?

Hawk? John McCain?

You're spending too much time in the Twilight Zone, Trau.

Are you completely ignorant of McCain's continued support for the war and his stance on abortion and other issues?

We care about freedom, which is why we oppose McCain and his Communist agenda to destroy freedom. As the main force behind an outrageous law that regulates the content of political speech, McCain will never get my vote. I will vote for Hillary Clinton before I vote for him.

Are you completely ignorant of McCain's continued support for the war and his stance on abortion and other issues?Matter of fact, no. McCain has blown hot and cold on every issue under the sun, much like John Kerry, over the years. He would sell his mother for a vote. He's not "for" much of anything -- which means he's not against much of anything, either.

McCain is far to erratic. The fact that he is going to be at Falwell's digs causes me to consider Falwell in the same light.

Come to think of it, Falwell seems to have gone soft in recent years. Making solid statements then backing down from them. He's actually been pretty quiet of late. Maybe he wants to use McCain to get back in the spot light.

I'll admit in sum he appears better on the 2A than I had thought. However, as DF notes, he's blown hot and cold on so many things including the 2A that the only thing we can truly gather is, we don't know where he'l;l be tomorrow.

Kinda like this meeting with Falwell...
