Immigration is yet another issue which we seem unable to discuss rationally -- in part because words have been twisted beyond recognition in political rhetoric.
We can't even call illegal immigrants "illegal immigrants." The politically correct evasion is "undocumented workers."
Do American citizens go around carrying documents with them when they work or apply for work? Most Americans are undocumented workers but they are not illegal immigrants. There is a difference.
The Bush administration is pushing a program to legalize "guest workers." But what is a guest? Someone you have invited. People who force their way into your home without your permission are called gate crashers.
If truth-in-packaging laws applied to politics, the Bush guest worker program would have to be called a "gate-crasher worker" program. The President's proposal would solve the problem of illegal immigration by legalizing it after the fact.

Liberalism's favorite weapon is using euphemisms and redefining words to conceal the ugly truth in gift-wrapping. And far too often even those who oppose the liberal agenda are parties to the verbal deceptions, e.g., the use of "gay" to describe homosexuals or "adult" to label filth.
Rush says, "Words mean things," but liberals use Humpty Dumpty language (http://www.wordspy.com/words/HumptyDumptylanguage.asp):
"There's glory for you!"
"I don't know what you mean by 'glory,' " Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't - till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!' "
"But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument,' " Alice objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less."
"The question is, " said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty. "which is to be master - that's all."

Leftists in both parties support amnesty for illegal immigrants. For Democrats, it's all about cheap votes. For Republicans, it's all about pandering to a huge voting block to try to get the Hispanic vote when they know those people will never vote for them. The only reason President Bush got 44% of the Hispanic vote in 2004 was because of his "guest worker/amnesty" program.

How many of those 44% are Illegals ?
When I voted in 2004 I put a check on my voter registration stating Hispanic as my race even though I'm only half lol.
Republicans can keep the votes from 'Legal' Hispanics by doing more on exposing the Agenda of the democrats on Gay Marriage and Abortion.
Hispanic dominated countys in texas strongly approved of the Gay Marriage ban in that state and in some countys it was by a bigger margin then some of the most GOP dominated countys in texas.
Why the Heck does the GOP elitists think they are gonna gain votes from people who dont/cant even vote ?
