By Cliff Kincaid | March 30, 2006 This is extremely important because it makes the BBC into a propaganda arm of the British government. http://www.aim.org/images/divider_line_gray.gif <TABLE align=right border=0><TBODY><TR><!-- Comment out Audio for the moment<td valign="middle" align="right">Listen to the Media Monitor (http://www.aim.org/publications/media_monitor/2006/03/mar30.html)</td>--><!-- New Wimpy Audio --><TD vAlign=center align=right> </TD><TD align=middle><OBJECT id=wimpy_button_1 codeBase=http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,47,0 height=20 width=20 classid=clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000 name=wimpy_button01>

Just as we were preparing to go to press with our AIM Report on the British media invasion of the U.S., the Washington Post ran a column confirming all of our fears. The March 12 column by David Pitts noted that public radio stations in the Washington, D.C. area are airing many hours of BBC programs, in place of the local programming that was once dominant. Pitts, who wrote for 15 years for the U.S. Information Agency-Voice of America, said that "it is disturbing that a foreign broadcaster has taken such a prominent role in U.S. public radio."

BBC will also be coming to America through Al-Jazeera International, the English version of the pro-Arab terrorist satellite channel. David Frost, formerly of the BBC, has joined the new channel, which is set to launch in the U.S. this year.
A group called the United American Committee has announced plans to [URL="http://www.unitedamericancommittee.org/press03_06_06.htm"]protest (http://www.aim.org/media_monitor/4459_0_2_0_C/sendpage/index.php) the launching of the channel on April 30 at 12:00 Noon at the new Washington, D.C. offices of Al-Jazeera International at1627 K St., NW.
The group is urging people who can't make it to the protest to write, call, or fax your cable company and tell them that you will cancel your subscription if they carry Al-Jazeera International.

I'm sure this is not the only reason to cancel your subscription. Just add this to the list of reasons. I don't subscribe so it is not an issue, but I will keep it in mind as well as hoping to join the protest about it. Thank God we have blogs like this one so we can get the "real news"

But ... but ... but ... don't you know that there's freedom of speech (well, except for right-wing programming, but that doesn't count)? Our enemies have every right to broadcast their hate-America propaganda all over the US.

And of course Arab countries will carry Fox News on their systems, right? Yep, sure they will.

I don't have cable in the boonies where I live.

I have a nice satellite dish on the house I bought, wired into every room. It came with the house, all aligned to the satellite and everything. I have never purchased a subscription for satellite service to my house, however.

I have 1 television set. Sometimes I turn it on for the weather forecast in the morning. Never watch it for the news. Mostly I use it to play old tape and DVD movies.

My life has been richer, better, fuller, and more satisfying ever since I stopped watching the "news" on TV.

Burlington, Vermont has added the world’s primary outlet of slickly-produced jihad propaganda, Al Jazeera, to their city-owned cable television channel. The Boston Globe buried their report here (http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/04/22/rider_is_killed_in_motorcycle_accident/).A cable company is offering the Al-Jazeera network in its cable package, one of only a few in the nation to do so. Burlington Telecom, a city-owned cable company that serves 1,200 households in Vermont’s largest city, began offering the Arab-operated network about six months ago. “We were certainly squeamish about it at first, given its reputation in the United States,” said Tim Nulty, director of Burlington Telecom. “But if you look at it, it looks like BBC.I think it’s more mainstream and more objective than CNN.”Contact Burlington Telecom Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM

“But if you look at it, it looks like BBC.I think it’s more mainstream and more objective than CNN.”That's probably true. And that's what's really frightening, IMHO.

I don't have cable, but the chances of me getting it at all were lost... We already have left-wing outlets like CNN, MSNBC, KGB... and yet, cable is a modern phenomenon. I suppose we need an Islamofascist channel to keep it that way.
