Remember how so many people on this board and elsewhere called the French cowards when Muslims rioted across France and the government caved, while Frenchmen holed up in their homes? Well, the US Congress has admitted to doing the very same thing.

Apparently, protesters waving Mexican flags — many of them illegals themselves — are what really get these senators' attention. The New York Times reports (http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/03/28/america/immig.php): “Lawmakers central to the immigration debate acknowledged that the televised images of tens of thousands of demonstrators, waving flags and fliers, marching in opposition to tough immigration legislation helped persuade the panel to find a bi-partisan compromise.” So there you have it — your illegal-alien amnesty, brought to you in part by illegal aliens marching in the streets. Have Jacques Chirac and Dominique de Villepin been giving the Judiciary Committee tips on how to kowtow to demonstrators?

So our Congressmen and Senators have taken a page out of their book. And yes, that makes them cowards and embarassments to us all.

But it doesn't change a thing about the French surrender monkeys, who have made the act of screaming like little girls and running away the second there is a problem, a national past-time.

Hey, I'm pretty P.O.ed at my Representatives right now, but then that's pretty standard fare, being as I'm from Wisconsin. :flame:

Bad as that is though, I thank God that I'm not stuck in Nancyland. :france:

The surrender monkeys in Congress had better pull their heads out of their asses or they are dead meat.

This thread should be moved to the Immigration Issues Forum.

This thread should be moved to the Immigration Issues Forum.

In case you haven't noticed, the primary topic of discussion in the US Senate, cable news, and talk radio is the Senate and House immigration bills and the events surrounding them. This makes these threads the most topical candidates of all for the US Politics header, not for the "Immigration Issues" ghetto.

Do you guys use the "New Posts" and "User CP" links at the top of every page? "New Posts" will show you the latest posts on the site, regardless of what forum they're in, so you won't miss a recent thread that is near and dear to your heart. The "User CP" link will list all threads you have posted in recently, also regardless of what forum they're in, so you won't miss any new posts in a thread you were following, even if it was moved. It would be nice if we could simply leave everything in the main forums, but we can't. We used to do that long ago, and the main forums became so clogged, you couldn't keep up with what was going on. As I stated to someone earlier, moving a thread doesn't mean it is being demoted. And if you use those links above, you'll discover that many hot issues in the other forums get just as much, if not more, activity than those in the main forums sometimes. They are not some kind of 'purgatory', though we do have a couple of forums for that too. If you haven't been going to the other forums, you don't know what you've been missing. Go see them. Browse early, and browse often.

Kinda funny how everybody thought Tom Dewey landslided FDR's man Truman in 48... only to have Truman actually win, "by a narrow margin", the next morning...

The Babylonian Goddess, that the French gave America, has become one of our chief Icons. Ironic it is, that Liberty being distorted to the degree to which it has, may or perhaps will be the very thing that finishes this great republic.

Liberty with out the restraint of Law fast turns to Anarchy. If what we are looking at now is not Anarchy, then what is it?

It's the Statue of Liberty, not the Statue of Immigration. When the French donated the hunk of junk, they labeled it "Liberty Enlightening the World", not "Liberty Inviting the World." For what it's become a symbol of, I wish we could just get rid of the damn thing.

Yes, but at the base of it there is a plaque of some sort, that says "give me your poor..........."

The implication is an inclusive concept, and the fact that these poor that have come now to take a spoil are using our liberty (constitution) to destroy us.

Saddam Hussein, in his restoration of the Old City of Babylon had also restored the image of that goddess. She came out of Babylon.

But the plaque was put there, what, 20 years after the statue went up?
