With the Easter weekend upon us, retail gasoline prices continue to soar across Texas and the nation as crude oil market prices push sharply higher, according to the weekly AAA Texas gas prices survey released Friday.

The survey shows the average retail price of regular, self-serve gasoline in Texas climbed 14 cents this week to $2.73 per gallon. Nationally, the average price climbed 12 cents this week to $2.72 per gallon.

Hey, have to fund the retirement fund for the departing Exxon/Mobil CEO somehow now don't we!!
Right.

a. increasing consumption of the US, China, India and Europe, and
b. slower increasing production worldwide,

have nothing to do with it.

Just one guy's stock options.... which have nothing to do with the price at the pump.

Let's not mention the 23% of the price of each gallon of gasoline going to taxes. At a nominal price of $2.75 per gallon, that's 63 cents a gallon. Even at 20 million barrels per day consumption, that's 560 million dollars per day, just in taxes. That's each and every day, or 204 billion USD in taxes per year.

Right, it's the execs compensation.

a. 400 million USD stock options not paid by the consumer at the pump

always trumps

b. 204 billion in taxes which are paid by the consumer at the pump.

Not one penny of the price at the gas pump came out of your pocket because of that oil industry exec. I also know that every time you put 10 gallons of gasoline in your vehicle, more than 6 bucks is going to Federal, State and Local governments to waste. There wasn't any "tax" where you were forced to pay this exec's compensation package. Why not rip government's ass for a change, since that is the reality, instead of the fantasy.
