Murder Charges Filed Against Accused Child-Killer

PURCELL, Okla. — Prosecutors filed first-degree murder charges Monday against a grocery store stocker who is accused of killing a 10-year-old neighbor girl in an elaborate plan to eat human flesh.

Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, was to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. CDT before Judge Gary Barger in the McClain County Courthouse. He and the girl lived in the same apartment building in this small town about 40 miles south of Oklahoma City.

District Attorney Tim Kuykendall filed the formal charges at 1 p.m. and said further charges could be filed later. He said Underwood's preliminary hearing was at least a month away.

Underwood drew suspicion at a checkpoint set up near the apartment complex where he and the girl, 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin, were neighbors. He was arrested Friday and held without bail. Purcell Police Chief David Tompkins said Underwood apparently had planned to kidnap, rape, torture and kill a person, then decapitate the body, drain it of blood, rape it and eat it before disposing of the organs and bones..........http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,192016,00.html

Gag Order Hearing Planned in Oklahoma 'Cannibal' Case

PURCELL, Okla. — A hearing on the gag order was to be held Tuesday in the case of a grocery store stocker accused of killing a 10-year-old girl.

While Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, was arraigned Monday on a first-degree murder charge, a man in the hallway outside the courtroom yelled "Let's string him up! Let's string him up! Baby killer! Hang him!"

Underwood appeared mild and polite during his first court appearance, but there was loud hostility outside the courtroom over the allegations that the suspect had planned to eat the girl's corpse.

Special District Judge Gary Barger entered a not guilty plea for Underwood, whose court-appointed attorneys requested a gag order.

The lawyers complained that officials had made "inflammatory, prejudicial and conclusory statements" to the media that had helped fuel widespread interest in the case. That little town is absolutely staggering under the horror of it all. Why oh why did her Daddy let her 1) Be outside the apartment when he isn't home 2) Visit next door neighbor-single man unsupervised?? So tragic. The only consolation is the authorities believe he planned several more such murders.

September 10th, 2002. The day before the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America. And I say...who gives a ****? I'm sick of hearing about it! I was sick of hearing about it a week after it happened. I liked the coverage of it at first, because it was entertaining.

And as long as none of my close friends or I are hurt, I don't give a **** how many people the terrorists kill. I'm not worried about it.

They say there's a good chance of another attack of some kind tomorrow, (or today if you want to be really anal about it). Now I'm not hoping they attack, I'm not going that far, but if they do, let's just say I'll be watching the news coverage of it for the entertainment value.
