A Purdue University graduate student was arrested and charged with threatening to kill President George W. Bush, Laura Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
Vikram Buddhi allegedly posted the detailed and threatening messages on an online message board.
Buddhi has been studying industrial engineering at the university, having moved temporarily from India to his new home in West Lafayette 10 years ago on a student visa. He was originally hired as a teaching assistant in the math department but was removed from that position and is now a teaching assistant in the industrial engineering department.
Since this is a very busy time for college students, being immersed in studying for their upcoming finals, Buddhi’s attorney John Martin said he hopes his client will be released from jail Wednesday following his detention hearing so he can return to studying.
Buddhi told investigators he posted the message, along with other derogatory messages aimed at the president, but Martin said Buddhi’s actions should be covered by the First Amendment since Buddhi would have never actually carried out his threats.

The First Amendment. Isn't that in the American constitution which was written for American citizens?

... Martin said Buddhi’s actions should be covered by the First Amendment since Buddhi would have never actually carried out his threats.I'm sure the Secret Service will simply dismiss it as a joke or a First Amendment "right". The assmite needs a lesson in actions and consequences.

In my opinion, his visa should be immediately revoked and he should be sent back to India on the next flight (or ship).

Isn't threatening the President a felony, whether it's attempted or not?

And isn't it illegal for American citizens, the First Amendment notwithstanding?

Isn't threatening the President a felony, whether it's attempted or not?Probably covered under the same misdemeanor laws for illegal immigration.
And isn't it illegal for American citizens, the First Amendment notwithstanding?Yes, but that's just for citizens. [/sarcasm]

BALLS! (pardon me) How do we know he would not carry them out? Because an ambulance chaser tells us so? Yeah, that's something to take seriously.
As for the 1st Amendment, that's another mother load of @%&*. If I posted a public threat to Hillary Clinton, the stink would be such my eyes would water. AND no one would save from going to chokey, either. Hate-crime, and all that.
I know I said this before, but it's worth repeating. Read Horowitz's The Professors. You would not believe the blood-thirsty monsters that "teach" at colleges. And 90% of them are foreigners, mainly of Middle Eastern extraction.
I strongly advise those who have college-age kids to read the book. See what your tax dollars are being used for. :flame:

I was told it's a crime. I don't know whether it's a felony or a misdemeanor. But I know that the FBI does not take it lightly.
I hope this Buddhi bastard gets kicked out of the country.
Yeah, right. Dream on. :sulk:

Why send him to India? If he doesn't like the US, send him to Sudan or Somalia. I'm sure an Indian will get on just fine with the Islamic murderers running those countries.

From the excerpted article:
"Buddhi told investigators he posted the message, along with other derogatory messages aimed at the president, but Martin said Buddhi’s actions should be covered by the First Amendment since Buddhi would have never actually carried out his threats."
Hmmm, and we know this ... how?
Sounds vaguely reminiscent of those being sued for the Columbine incident because of prior knowledge of claims that the shooters were going to do just that.
No, that was pure indication of this fellow's intent, seems to me --- whether or not he "would have" carried out the threats is irrelevant to the fact that he DID make them. In this day and age, with the events of 9/11 ever present in our minds, to NOT have taken this seriously would have been to turn a blind eye (as President Clinton did on several occasions with a known inciter of terrorism.)

Edited for clarity and brevity.
Looks like a felony, if the punishment is any indication.

I'm sure an Indian will get on just fine with the Islamic murderers running those countries.I am not quite that mean, although I would fine him for the cost of sending him back to India. He came to the US from India so I would just send him back and put him on whatever lists it takes to keep him from ever legally entering the US.
