Duke Lacrosse Players Arrested to Face Rape Charges
Tuesday, April 18, 2006
Fox News
DURHAM, N.C. — Two Duke University lacrosse players were arrested early Tuesday on charges of rape, sexual offense and kidnapping, FOX News has confirmed.
Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty, both 20 years old, were being held on $400,000 bond each. Seligmann had posted bond by 7:30 a.m. and Finnerty was in the process of doing so.
District Attorney Mike Nifong said authorities still are trying to identify a third person in connection with the case. Nifong would not discuss the evidence that led the grand jury to indict Seligmann and Finnerty.
"It had been my hope to charge all three of the assailants at the same time, but the evidence available to me at this moment does not permit that," Nifong said. "Investigation into the identity of the third assailant will continue in the hope that he can also be identified with certainty."
Finnerty appeared in court around 10:30 a.m. EDT Tuesday. The judge was reviewing the charges against him and the names of his attorneys. The judge set May 15 as the date for the next hearing.
The Durham arrests come little more than a month after a 27-year-old black stripper told police she was raped by three white males at a party thrown by the lacrosse team at an off-campus house. The players have maintained their innocence and claim no such attack happened.............http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,192085,00.html

The media double standard is in full gear on this one. Where is the often seen tactic of attacking the victim as we saw in the Kennedy, Kobi, and Broaddrick rape cases.
I give FOX credit for calling her a stripper instead of exotic dancer. I dont know if they did it or not at this point, not enough info, but the media is out to get these guys for sure.

They'll get off......wealthy families, no DNA evidence, she was evidently wasted at the time. And apparently one of them can show he was withdrawing money from an ATM at the same time as this was suppposedly going on. Is the DA running for office?

Guilty or not, and I'm thinking not, I'll bet its a long time before these guys hire a whore to come and entertain them at a party again.

I personally know the guy who USED to be the DA in Durham. He was appointed a judgeship, and Nifong is the guy who replaced him, apparently. If he's the same guy I'm thinking of, well, he's another big government liberal who is just as Rush Limbaugh says--pandering to the Jesse Jackson crowd. You see, Durham is 96% Democrat, and to have the "D" behind your name is the only way you get elected in that town.
Incidentally, the former DA would have enough of a spine to stand up to these idjits, although I bet he's glad he doesn't have to deal with this!!
Besides, rumor has it that Counsel is filing a motion for a change of venue because of all the publicity. Charlotte (where I live) is one of the possibilities. That's all we need is a bunch of Jesse Sharpton types running around here in African garb:bsflag: and decrying the "lilly white justice system".

They'll get off......wealthy families.....Who said they were from wealthy families? And even if they are, what has that got to do with anything?
Is the DA running for office?Yes. He's running for re-election.

Changing the venue to Charlotte would actually be a good move.

Alleged Duke Lacrosse rape victim once stole a car, led police on high speed chase while intoxicated
Allegations made by a woman who told police that she was gang-raped by three Duke University men's lacrosse athletes have raised questions about the character, credibility and behavior of all those involved.
The severity of the allegations raises questions about each individual involved in the events that transpired on March 13 and March 14, including the alleged victim.
New information about the victim has been divulged, concerning charges arising from an incident that occurred several years ago. According to a 2002 police report, the woman, currently a 27-year-old student at North Carolina Central University, gave a taxi driver a lap dance at a Durham strip club. Subsequently, according to the report, she stole the man's car and led deputies on a high-speed chase that ended in Wake County.
Apparently, the deputy thought the chase was over when the woman turned down a dead-end road near Brier Creek, but instead she tried to run over him, according to the police report.
