Has anyone had a chance to pick up Hamptons new book? It is really good! I picked it up at Mardels (local book store here in Tulsa) and I can not put it down!!!! His chapter on hollywood is better than any of the Ingram stuff by a long shot...which for me is saying a lot considering I read her latest book 3 times, lol!!!! Here is an exerpt:

...to think that Bush is doing a poor job, and acting in a manner that is unsatisfactory with regards to serving the citizenry of The United States of America. Well, two things: First off, this is a republic not a democracy! And secondly what about Bill Clinton? Consider some of the things that he did do while in office (better yet, things he did not do while in office!). While many consider Monicagate a very troubling incident in our history (I agree) there are many things we can look at that were worse! But I digress, there is so much to talk about with regards to these things and yet consider the fact that although Bush is "so bad", why is it that our economy is thriving? People are doing very well and many individuals who did not have good jobs in the 90s now have VERY good jobs....

REad this great book!!!! I love it!!!!

What does Todd have written on the outside wall of his house? Flamingo Shopping, er something like that? Strange choice of exterior decoration.

Funny stuff, this passage on page 453 reminds me a lot of what just happened! :

"...Liberals refuse to ever admit they are wrong, rather call names to the individuals or groups who point out their (very obvious) faults. This is a defense mechanism they use for one simple reson, and that is the fact that they have no way of defending themselves and much like a terrorist they fight to cover up their inadequate theories. On the other hand, conservatives when shown to be wrong often correct the problem! This is what makes America great. Sure, we are not a perfect nation, but we have all means necessary to go in the direction of perfection ("DOP" see footnote 1813.A) to strive to be better and better every day. Libs have no desire to get better, they only have a desire to say they are better and to try and pull the nation down with them. That is where we come in, to stop this...."

Forgive me for judging a book by its... exerpt... but is that what one should expect out of the rest of his book? He kinda just sounds like a typical opinion columnist at a university newspaper. He even looks like a college student. Books that are written to simply defend an administration are about as interesting as those written solely to blame it for everything. In other words, this guy sounds like a conservative equivalent to Al Franken.

So is this a serious documentary about liberal failings? Or is it just some feel good about being conservative propaganda piece? The first paragraph quoted looks good but the second looks like feel good bs. If this is just another "How To Talk To A Liberal" then it's not worth buying.

no no no!!!! It is not like that at all. There are TONS of facts, figures, and charts in the book. The title is a little misleading in that it DOES sound like a rah-rah!!! go team!!! book, but it is very well written and has tons of footnotes. I like to check references and read charts, and when I saw this book..which is chock full of both boy did I ever realize that I should buy a copy...actually I bought two! One for me and one for my son who atttends Depaul university in Illinois and is kind of tilting to the left a bit..pray for him pleeeeeeeeeease!!!

And Hampton does look young in the pic! That is fromm 1994 when he graduated from Oral Robers University with a masters in divinity (no not his home! good call again!!!!)...apparently he wanted to use a pic from the school becuase he is a big proponent of private, religious education and vouchers and whatnot! He even has a chapter on it entitled "Why the left hates vouchers" and has some good quotes from Steve Largent, former oklahoma senator including this one : "..vouchers will help the citizens of the freest country in the world be even freer...and smarter!"

I love that!

go todd! go todd!
