If anyone asks, I am anti war.
I believe that war is one of the greatest evils that plagues mankind. The Second World War cost the lives of over 25 million people. For what? So some have mad punk could make himself powerful? So the Germans could dominate Europe and spread their hatred and oppression? So the Japanese people could have an Empire? No. Bad idea. I vote no on the whole notion.
What of the Cold War? Over 200 million dead in the name of Communism, and still it infests our planet. I vote no. Let those who want to be communists do as they please, and leave the rest of the world alone.
What of Iraq? Is war there a good thing? Of course not! Its never a good thing when we have to send Americans to kill or be killed. It isnt a good thing when errant bombs kill the innocent, or when violence erupts in the streets and nobody is safe. I am, have been and remain 100% against war with Iraq.
Unfortunately, Saddam Hussein, like Hitler, Stalin and others before him, did not share my aversion to war. And so, like in the past, Americans are dragged into a fight we did not want and tried desperately to avoid. Was it a war for oil? Yes, and for power. Hussein was bent on dominating the Middle East and controlling the worlds largest known oil reserves, following in Hitlers footsteps to bring power and glory to himself at the expense of the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocents. War with Iran ended in a draw. He was able to take and briefly pillage Kuwait, but was thrown out nearly at the cost of his country. Still, he persisted. His ambitions were unchanged. He pursuit of WMD was greater than ever.
The facts are clear. Hussein was supporting terrorists including Al Qaeda. Hussein was funding everyone who came to him with a plan for WMD. Hussein was trying to obtain nuclear weapons and long range missiles. Hussein was seeking ways to weaponize Ricin and disperse it using UAVs. Hussein was ordering that American aircraft be fired upon on a daily basis. Hussein was arming and giving safe have to terrorists. Hussein ordered the assassination of a US president. If Hussein could have launched a thousand attacks like the one on 9/11 he would have in a heartbeat. That he was not personally involved in the attack on 9/11/2001 is completely irrelevant, if, in fact, he was not.
These are not unfounded allegation, but documented facts. They cannot be refuted, only denied by fools and the ignorant. Were there errors in the pre-war intelligence? Certainly. We allowed Hussein the required time to stash his WMD. Had Hussein actually COMPLIED with the UN resolutions but been too afraid of his enemies to admit it? If you think that, you know NOTHING of the man. Hussein was a Hitler wannabe. He caused the deaths of over 250,000 people, and maybe closer to 350,000. Husseins quest for power would end only with his destruction. We wanted peace, but Hussein wanted war.
So what of the masses of the ignorant, marching in the streets carrying signs denouncing the war? Most of them are simply America hating extremists who march in protest of global warming, guns, big corporations, world trade etc. Some of them are rabid haters of President Bush who foster a hatred that began when he answered "Jesus Christ" to the question of who was his favorite philosopher. Some hate him simply because their party is out of power and Bush is the one they blame. Some hate him just to hate.
I am against war, but sometimes peace lies only on the other side of war. There was no peace in Iraq during the Hussein regime. There hasnt been peace in the Middle East since the Islamofascists found government sponsorship, and there will be no peace until they are destroyed. Since I am one who loves peace, I believe that we should work toward peace at all costs.
Those who march in the street saying they are against war need to take a good long look at what they are FOR. Do they really support the systematic murder and oppression of the innocent? Do they support the idea of Hussein taking over the Middle East and holding the worlds energy supply hostage? Do they really support nuclear weapons in the hands of people who will willingly use them? Are they really for anything, or are they nearly mouthpieces of hate.
In my hometown there are none who protest the fallen heroes at their funerals. There are no television cameras in front of which they can strut. Such behavior would not be tolerated. The offensive, hated filled degenerates would be beaten with their own signs. After all, if you are against those who sacrificed all in the name of freedom, you must be FOR the Islamic terrorists. That makes you our enemy. Peace lies on the other side of your destruction.
