WASHINGTON — President Bush's approval rating has slumped to 31% in a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, the lowest of his presidency and a warning sign for Republicans in the November elections.

The survey of 1,013 adults, taken Friday through Sunday, shows Bush's standing down by 3 percentage points in a single week. His disapproval rating also reached a record: 65%. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points.

"It is a challenging political environment," acknowledges Tracey Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, "but we are confident that ultimately voters in November will recognize that a Democrat Congress would simply not be equipped to ensure either economic or national security for our nation."

Wait till the Democrats trash each other in a few primaries (and they almost surely will).

Another "See how important the MSM is!" Bush-bashing poll. How very unexpected. * Y A W N *

I would hope the Republican base isn't disaffected enough to stay home this next election. The Dems are rev'ing their base for all it's worth.

See, the Dems are really bad campaigners. They look at Bush's poll number and think it has great meaning. In reality, it has small meaning and here are my reasons why:

1. Bush is not running in '06 or '08.
2. Repubs are doing a good job of distancing themselves
3. Polls show people want to elect Dems but that is a general poll. In reality they will look at their Republican rep and say "mine is all right" and think the other Republicans should be voted out.
4. Republicans have barely begun the campaign season
5. Republicans run better, more focused campaigns than Dems
6. Incumbents have a huge advantage.

My inexpert prediction is that Republicans will keep control of both Senate and House but just barely. See, already Dems are getting complacent and think they will be swept into power in '06. It ain't gonna happen unless they work their butts off and learn how to campaign.

There has been enough fiscal irresponsibility and pork barrel spending to disaffect me. I find it difficult to "read" the national RNC membership, but I know my opinion.

The problem with the libs is the one JFK had with his daddy: They're too cheap to buy landslides, and they keep guessing wrong on how many dead voters to buy off, so they keep losing.

I don't know why it would Rhino...go to this site and listen to Limbaugh and what the Chicano speakers have in store for this "white nation."

IMHO - Post Ronald Reagan, this country will NEVER see another conservative President.

Liberals hate Poles, especially those in Solidarity that helped get the communists out of power in much of central and eastern Europe.

Migrant Duck administration. Low poll numbers are to be expected.

With all the hate and lies about President Bush coming almost hourly from the left-wing media, I'm surprised that his approval rating is as high as it is.

I refuse to accept that I live in a nation that would permit Nancy Pelosi to become Speaker of the House.

The only Republicans that will loose their seat are the ones that tried to appease and get along with the Democrats. As for them, I say we might as well have a Democrat in their place.

As for Bush’s poll numbers, the libs mistakenly attribute this to America moving left. The 2006 midterm election will reveal that it was Bush that moved to the left while We the People continue moving right, into the light.
