Lying sack of shit Frist just yesterday on Lou Dobbs said he would only support a border enforcement bill that put the "guest worker" program on the backburner. Republican cowards, say goodbye to your re-election in the fall.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate leaders reached a deal Thursday on reviving a broad immigration bill that could provide millions of illegal immigrants a chance to become American citizens and said they'll try to pass it before Memorial Day.

The agreement brokered by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and Minority Harry Reid, D-Nev., breaks a political stalemate that has lingered for weeks while immigrants and their supporters held rallies, boycotts and protests to push for action.
"We congratulate the Senate on reaching agreement and we look forward to passage of a bill prior to Memorial Day," said Dana Perino, deputy White House press secretary.
Key to the agreement is who will be negotiating a compromise with the House, which last December passed an enforcement-only bill that would subject the estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to felony charges as well as deportation.
Frist said the Senate will send 14 Republicans and 12 Democrats to negotiate with the House, with seven of the Republicans and five Democrats coming from the Judiciary Committee. The remaining seven Republicans will be chosen by Frist and remaining seven Democrats chosen by Reid.
Frist said a "considerable" number of amendments would be debated when the Senate begins debating the bill early next week. It would be the most comprehensive rewrite of immigration laws since the so-called Simpson-Mazzoli bill some 20 years ago

Interesting that this breaking news was shuffled off to the "immigration news" ghetto pronto. Other immigration threads remain active over there. What are the moderators trying to hide?

Well, I never have cared for the overly detailed parsing of news and political subjects - just means I have to visit different areas looking for hot news items.

None the less, the news story was not specific BUT prior stories make it clear that CITIZENSHIP NOT BORDER SECURITY is the thrust of this bill. I am so angry for this betrayal of our democracy and our security by these obssesive traitors.

You can KISS the Presidential ambtions of Frist, McCain, Brownback, etc. GOODBYE. NADA GONE! I will dance on their political graves...

They still have to get their bill through the House, and I have seen enough oppositition to have some hope it will be checked.

Your right, Frist is a little roach - a petty little coward who does not have the guts to simply make his Senate vote on a SECURITY bill without any discussion of Immigration Reform - to put EVERYONE on the record regarding the border.

Another reason why I cannot in good conscience support the GOP.
Grill me if you want, die hard Bush supporters, but reforming the party isn't going to happen by "considering the alternative" and keeping these traitors in office.

I havent posted here in a while mainly due to feeling hopeless about 06 elections and a New MMORPG PC game(Guild Wars) I have been playing.
The GOP in my opinion threw away its chances at winning more seats in 06 down the drain the moment they started shaking hands with 'Evil Teddy' on Amnesty.

I am deeply ashamed at alot of the Mexican people in this country for standing by the criminals who call themselfs immigrants and I am a US born Half Mexican btw.

Immigrants are people who immigrate here with proper papers etc.

Illegal Aliens are those who sneak, Crawl, Smuggle, Jump their way into this country illegaly like a modernized Ghengis Khan Mongol invasion of the USA.

May 1st was a very upseting day for me, to me it was like watching the people from my moms native country march around like radical nazi like extremists. It must have been similar to when my dads ancestors had to watch in shame when the Nazis in munich 1933 pranced around like jackasses cursing the once nation of Beer and Sausages into the nation of slaughter houses. How disgusting it is to see people of my background jump around like Extremist and embarass the rest of us who are american citzens or american born citizens.

The senate republicans are now dominated by girly men being pushed around by the BUSH GOP(La-Raza friendly). Brownback was once a very conservative senator, his voting record on christian values was A++ and his anti-pork spending rating was B+, now he has become victim to the BUSH(meche) GOP.

The only senator who seems to be loyal to us is George Allen(R-VA).
He now can take on Frist, McCain, Brownback with the now known Amnesty dirt on the other 08ers except for the fact the Elitists will spend big money to see Frist win the nomination. Hopefully george allen will be able to get enough for his campaign and smear Frist away as a Illegal Alien Supporter.

Beo, we are not Bush supporters anymore (at least, I'm not). We just don't want to give our votes to dems.

It's really awful that we are put in the situation of choosing between the lesser of two evils, but there you have it.

Having said all that, I share your - Max's - feelings.

It was reported on Fox News this morning that Ted Kennedy was "thrilled" with this "compremise"... That speaks volumes to me...

We are going into a dark political period... The Left has somehow successfully stolen the spines of the Republican Party... I wonder how much Bush contributed to this sellout behind the scenes...

The number of true American Patriots and Statesmen left in Washington can be counted on one hand... And the Republicans are successfully driving me away...

I will vote 'pub again in November. But if they don't clean their act - and and pave the way for Hillary - I will change parties so fast it will cause a tornado.

And if Hillary wins, well, nothing will matter any longer. We might as well light a match under this country and burn it to the ground.

If the GOP endorses Tancredo THEN I will vote for the Republicans, otherwise they Have to earn my vote which I highly doubt they will.

Sowwy maggie I'm just plain fed up with the GOP's backstabbing us conservatives.

The 'Judas Shrub' plays a big part in setting the stage for this Charade.

Only if,and I mean Only, the Republican party aligns itself with Tancredo thinking, will I consider voting Republican.

I'll not throw my vote away on a Pseudo Conservative.
