Today I read a report by Colorado State Treasurer Mike Coffman who just returned from a ten-month tour of duty with U.S. Marines in Iraq.
Based on his experiences in Iraq, Treasurer Coffman writes:
"The Marines I served with in Iraq, unlike many of our Washington politicians and media critics, are confident that their actions have made a difference and are optimistic about the future of Iraq."
It's the same message I've heard over and over again from our troops who have returned from Iraq. And it's what I saw for myself first-hand when I went to Iraq as part of the "Voices of Soldiers" Tour.
You can understand then how FURIOUS I am when I read the comments Jimmy Carter made about the war in Iraq, and how our troops must feel when they hear a former President of the United States say:
"I thought then, and I think now, that the invasion of Iraq was unnecessary and unjust. And I think the premises on which it was launched were false."

"Unjust" ?!!?!
Maybe Jimmy Carter thinks it was unjust because he opposed the UN sanctions against Saddam Hussein's regime. Maybe Carter was too busy taking Saddam's Intelligence Agent, Samir Vincent (implicated in the Oil for Food scandal) around Atlanta which included entertaining the Iraqi agent in his home.
Friends - when you look at how people who should know better, like a former U.S. president, keep piling on against the war in Iraq you must realize that we've simply got to STOP being on the defensive when it comes to the war in Iraq.
We cannot tolerate conduct and actions like this from a former President.
It's time for us to say, "Shame on you, those words are harmful to the efforts of our men and women in uniform who are serving in harms way - fighting to keep our nation secure."
But that has so far NOT happened, those who have led the push for a tough, pro-active fight against terrorism have if anything been on the defensive and allowed "Blame America First" critics to undermine the mission of our military in the Middle East.
We here at Move America Forward have therefore taken it upon ourselves to stand up and pushback - to speak out against those whose seek to impede the efforts of our troops.
Since no one has stood up to Jimmy Carter thus far he has felt free to go further in his inexcusable behavior.
This past weekend Jimmy Carter wrote an OpEd praising the terrorist group Hamas. Today that OpEd was picked up by newspapers in the heart of the heavily Islamic regions in the Middle East and Asia.
I need you to join with me in speaking out against the conduct of Jimmy Carter. We are leading a drive to have Congress issue a formal resolution of censure (which criticizes and condemns his behavior) against Jimmy Carter. We are going to send a message to the rest of the world that the people of the United States and their leaders in Congress are aghast at what Jimmy Carter has done and that he does NOT speak for us.
We're trying very hard to get this "Censure Carter" campaign up on the TV airwaves for all Americans to see. But so far we've raised enough money to run a cable news spot here and there. We need to do A LOT more to build momentum for this campaign.
I am trying to get 2,000 Americans to contribute $50 to our cause so we can have an additional $100,000 to spend on our "Censure Jimmy Carter" ad campaign. Can't you PLEASE make a $50 contribution right now:

Many of you have come to know my commitment to activism over the years. You've seen me fight to get MTBE out of our gasoline (a battle we won by working together). You've seen me work to recall the corrupt Democrat Governor of California (we made history together!). You've supported our trips to Iraq, our caravans to Crawford to counter Cindy Sheehan, our rallies in Washington D.C., San Diego, Los Angeles, Indianapolis and communities far and wide. You've worked with me to put pressure on the UN to stop their constant stream of anti-Americanism and corruption.
You know I fight for what I believe in.
Now I need your help. It's you and me against an establishment that isn't exactly representing our best interests. We have a news media that trashes the mission of our troops everyday. We have far-left politicians sympathizing with America's enemies.
And now we have a former President who is leading the way on both accounts.
I don't think so. Not without us speaking out. If good men do nothing, then evil prevails. You all know that expression.
Well, it's time for good men and women to take action again!
Please, provide the "Censure Carter Committee" with the funding we need to go make history again and see the first Censure of a former government official by the Congress of the United States for his shameful, anti-American actions.
Be one of the 2,000 people to contribute $50 (or contribute $100 so that we will need the support of just 1,000 people contributing $100) online here:

Or mail in your contribution to:
Censure Carter Committee

I'm counting on you to join with me. And to those who do, I want you to know that I so deeply appreciate your support.
