The Maricopa County Attorney's Office later issued an opinion saying illegal immigrants suspected of paying coyotes could be prosecuted as conspirators.
On Wednesday night, a 250-member posse of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched patrols in desert areas and major roadways southwest of Phoenix in search of illegal immigrants to arrest.
The group was comprised of existing Maricopa County sheriff's deputies and members of the department's 3,000-member posse reserve of trained volunteers.

The feds will be issuing a cease and desist order as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow.
Fox news said the MEXICAN GOVERNMENT has hired an attorney in the US to fight this.

I listned to him on the radio on my way home from my ballgame tonight and it was depressing. Here this guy is being made a big deal out of for one reason. Common sense. Which isn't common any more.
All he says is stuff that shouldn't make people bat an eye, instead its like he is a visionary with novel ideas. I hope he does well in spite of having a state senator like McCain.

We love Sheriff Joe in Phoenix. The guv doesn't dare mess with him because he's so popular. Even the feds walk carefully around him because he speaks level headed good sense and people instantly recognize it when they hear it. Even the idiot liberal Arizona Republic is careful what they say about Sheriff Joe.

Good for you guys. We Nick Navarro back in the 80's. You may remember him from COPS. It started here in Broward. My zone to be exact. Hope the politicians dont ruin him like it did Nick.

Napolitano tried. So have several others. They're all gone but Napolitano, and Sheriff Joe just keeps on keepin' on.
He's the guy who invented tent city. Instead of a regular jail, Phoenix has tent city here in the desert. No air conditioning in summer, no heat in the winter. They do get proper clothing and such, though the prisoners wear pink undies.

He was on Laura Ingram tonight. She alluded to the trouble he had with politicians but he wouldn't name any. She mentioned McCain and he said something to the effect that he wouldn't comment on the air. He did say McCain endorsed the guy who ran against him last election. McCain is an ass.

He's one reason I am proud to be from Phoenix.
He doesn't coddle prisoners by giving them Hustler magazine and cable. He takes action and I believe if there were thousands more like him, the jails would do the job and not be like country clubs.
Ya know it would be a hoot if Tancredo and Arpaio would get together and run for prez and vice P of America.
Whatta pair those two would make!!

Things would get done with that pair, for sure.
